In Ayurveda, this combination explains -fear , restlessness, pacing-> aggravated vata -anxiety, palpitations + insomnia-> vata + pitta -weightloss, low appetite-> weak digestion -constipation- classic vata obstruction -Thyroid imbalance-> agni + dhatu metabolism disturbance Your symptoms are significant, so the goal is not just calming herbs, but deep nervous system stabilization + gut correction + hormonal support Treatment Goals -stabilize vata (primary) -calm mind + improve sleep -improve digestion and appetite -relieve constipation -support thyroid metabolism -reduce dependency on acute calming herbs Internal medicatios 1) For severe anxiety + fear + restlessness -Manasmitra vatakam= 1 tab at night with warm milk =one of the most powerful classical formulation for anxiety, fear, intrusive thoughts, insomnia, emotional instability, works deeper than brahmi alone -Kalyanaka ghrita= 1/2 tsp morning on empty stomach with warm water =nourishes brain + stabilise emotions, reduces fear of being alone, improves memory + grounding 2) For nervous system + thyroid + stress -Ashwagandhadhi lehyam= 1 tsp twice daily after meals =adaptogen-> reduces cortisol and anxiety, supports thyroid especially hypothyroid tendency, helps weight loss + weakness 3) For sleep + deep calm -Saraswatarishta= 15ml + 15ml water after lunch and dinner =improves sleep quality, reduces overthinking, supports nervous system long term 4) Fr constipation (very important) Your anxiety will Not improve fully unless bowel clears -Gandharvahastadi kashaya= 15ml + warm water at night befrore bed =relieves chronic constipation, removes vata blockage from colon 5) For digestion + appetite -Jeerakadyarishtam= 15ml after meals twice daily =improves appetite, reduces gas + gut anxiety link External therapies 1) Oil massage= dhanwantaram taila -daily =directly calms vata, reduces restlessness + fear 2) Ksheerbala tailam head massage -before sleep =helps grounding + sleep Yoga and pranayam Do gently- not intense -Nadi sodhana= 10-15 min- balances nervous system -Bhramari= 7 rounds before sleep- immediate calming effect -Grounding yoga (avoid fast flows)= Childs pose, forward bends, legs-up-the-wall Diet -warm, cooked, soft foods only -add ghee daily very important -small frequently meals -khichdi -warm milk with nutmeg at night -soups, stews -cooked vegetables -soaked almonds Avoid -cold food -raw salads -caffeine very important -dry snacks -excess phone/social media at night Home remedies 1) Night calming drink= warm milk + pinch nutmeg + ghee =improves sleep + reduces fear 2) Oil on soles= apply sesame oil before sleep =reduces anxiety imemeditely 3) Belly oiling= castor oil massage on abdomen =helps constipation + vata Please check -Thyroid profile TSH,T3,T4 -Vitamin b12 -vitamin D -hemoglobin These directly affect anxiety severity Continue your current anxiety medication- don’t stop suddenly Ayurveda willl gradually reduce severity, not instant suppression Your “fear of being alone” is a classic vata symptoms- it will improve with grounding therapies How long will it take? -sleep improvement= 1-2 weeks -anxiety reduction= 3-6 weeks -deep stability= 2-3 months Consistency is key Your condition is treatable, but it needs a structured, multi layer approach, not just one herb like brahmi. When vata increases in this way it creates a sense of insecurity inside even when there is no real external threat that urge to go to someone’s house and fear of being alone comes from prana vata instability and hridaya dhatu sensitivity and the repeated thoughts of losing your husband are not reality based they are vata driven chanchalata of mind Right now the approach should not be only calming the mind temporarily but grounding stabilising and nourishing your system so that vata settles at a deeper level Food plays a very important role here your appetite is low but you still need regular nourishment take warm soft slightly unctuous food at fixed timings rice with moong dal well cooked with a little ghee or butter if ghee is not tolerated is good avoid dry cold raw foods completely do not skip meals even if quantity is small Constipation itself is feeding your anxiety so bowel movement must be corrected gently without strong purgation at night you can take 1 teaspoon ghee in warm milk if tolerated or use soaked black raisins this will reduce vata from the root For sleep and mental stability your system needs snigdha and brimhana support more than only medhya Take Tab G kanth 1 tablet twice daily after food Take Manasamitra vatikam 1 tablet at night before sleep Take Brahmi pearls 1 capsule twice daily after food Take Saraswathi aristham 15 ml with equal water after food twice daily You can also take Ashwagandha churna half teaspoon with warm milk at night if it suits your digestion External support is very important apply warm sesame oil to scalp and feet at night this directly calms prana vata and improves sleep even gentle abhyanga to body before bath will help reduce restlessness Try not to stay completely alone during peak anxiety hours but slowly train your mind to feel safe in your own space keep a soft light or calming sound in the background to support mental stability Thyroid imbalance and weight loss both indicate depletion so avoid restrictive diets your body needs nourishment and grounding at this stage

Many many thanks for your prompt and quick reply . Pls allow me sometime to process what you have mentioned …

I understand how distressing this must feel for you. What you are going through is a severe Vata imbalance affecting the mind, digestion, sleep, and hormonal system together. The fear, restlessness, urge to not stay alone, poor appetite, weight loss, constipation, and sleep disturbance are all connected and need a structured approach. Start with Manasamitra Vatakam, one tablet at bedtime with warm water or milk. Take Saraswatarishta 15 ml with equal water after lunch and dinner. For strengthening the nervous system, take Ashwagandha churna half teaspoon twice daily with warm milk, and Brahmi ghrita one fourth teaspoon in the morning on an empty stomach. Constipation must be corrected, otherwise anxiety will persist. Take Triphala churna one teaspoon at bedtime with warm water. If needed, add Gandharvahastadi kashayam 15 ml before dinner. For thyroid support, take Kanchanar Guggulu two tablets twice daily after food. Follow a simple routine. Begin the day with warm water and a little ghee, include ghee in meals, and avoid dry, cold, and raw foods. Apply warm sesame oil to the feet and scalp regularly, and have milk with a pinch of nutmeg at night for better sleep. Do not stop your current anxiety medication suddenly. With this combination, sleep improves first, then anxiety gradually reduces over a few weeks as the body becomes stable.

• Manasamithra Vatakam Gulika (Manasamithravatakam Gu. 25 Nos) - Kerala Ayurveda (Manasamithravatakam Gu. 25 Nos) — x2 • Saraswatharishta (200 Ml) - Kerala Ayurveda (Saraswatharishta 200 Ml) — x2

If you are taking any allopathic medication, continue the medicine along with ayurvedic approach. For sleeplessness and stress if you can do some panchakarma therapy like shirodhara, it will be very beneficial. There are some treatments like Takra dhara, Thalapothichil which will help to reduce stress level, and its cooling effect and other properties will help in induce sleep. Start some internal medicines like 1. Saraswatarishtam - 15ml twice daily just after food. It will help in mental stability, unwanted thoughts, fear, also help in weight gain. 2. Aswagandha choornam 1/2 tsp with warm milk twice a day. Give a gap with arishtam and allopathic medication while taking this. It also relieves stress and anxiety 3. Manasamitram vatakam 1 at night. Continue this medication for 1 month and follow up after that, then we can decide other medication acc to your situation. Take care, Dr. Shaniba

From an Ayurvedic perspective, your symptoms severe anxiety, weight loss, poor appetite, chronic constipation, and sleep issues point to a significant Vata imbalance that has reached the nervous system (Majja Dhatu). When Vata is high, it creates “lightness” and “mobility” in the mind, leading to pacing, racing thoughts, and the urge to flee your environment. The Ayurvedic Approach to Deep Anxiety In cases where basic herbs like Brahmi provide only temporary relief, Ayurveda often looks toward Ghrita (Medicated Ghees) and Rasayanas. Because your symptoms involve weight loss and dryness (constipation), you need “heavy” and “oily” medicine to ground your nervous system. 1. Saraswatharishtam (with Gold/Amrutha) This is a premier liquid tonic for mental health. It is “Medhya” (brain tonic) and helps stabilize the mind against tremors of fear and anxiety. Dose: 15–20 ml with an equal amount of water, twice daily after food. 2. Kalyanaka Ghritam This is a medicated ghee used specifically for psychological conditions, anxiety, and “unmads” (agitated states). Ghee crosses the blood-brain barrier effectively and provides the “unctuousness” your nervous system is currently lacking. Dose: 1 teaspoon with warm milk or warm water on an empty stomach in the morning. 3. Manasamitra Vatakam This is a potent tablet often used for severe restlessness and sleep disturbances. It is a complex formula of over 70 ingredients designed to “shield” the mind. Dose: 1 tablet twice daily. For sleep, one can be taken at night with warm milk. Addressing the Root: Constipation and Thyroid Your anxiety and thyroid issues are likely being exacerbated by chronic constipation. In Ayurveda, the colon is the “seat” of Vata. If the colon is blocked, Vata “overflows” into the rest of the body, causing the mind to race. For Constipation: Try Gandharvahastadi Castor Oil. Taking 1 teaspoon with warm water at night can help clear the downward channels (Apana Vata), which often instantly reduces mental anxiety. For Thyroid: Since your TSH is “normal” but you feel cold and fatigued, this is often viewed as low Agni (metabolic fire). Avoid raw foods; eat only warm, cooked, and slightly oily meals to stoke your internal fire. Immediate Grounding Practices Abhyanga (Self-Massage): This is not optional for Vata-type anxiety. Massage warm Kshirabala Thailam or sesame oil over your entire body, especially your head and the soles of your feet, before your morning shower. It creates a physical “boundary” that helps reduce the fear of being alone. The “Heavy” Diet: Since you are losing weight, focus on grounding foods: sweet potatoes, oats, basmati rice, and mung dal. Avoid caffeine entirely, as it will worsen the pacing and fear.
