does shilajit increase testosterone - #23250

Paisley

I am really curious about this whole shilajit thing. So, I've been feeling kinda low energy lately, and my workouts just aren’t hitting like they used to, ya know? A friend mentioned that maybe shilajit could help, saying it’s supposed to boost testosterone levels or something. But like, does shilajit increase testosterone for real? I don’t want to get my hopes up if it’s just another fad! Also, I read about how it might help with stamina and recovery which sounds awesome. Anyone here with personal experience or evidence? Would love to hear what you guys think!

Shilajit has indeed been discussed in Ayurvedic texts like the Charaka Samhita for its potential health benefits. It is a mineral-rich substance found in the Himalayas and is known as a rasayana, which is traditionally used for rejuvenation and longevity. Regarding your question about testosterone, there have been some studies suggesting that Shilajit can boost testosterone levels, particularly in people who have lower levels to begin with. Also, you might find an increase in energy and endurance, which could translate to better performance in workouts.

Before you dive into using it, let’s consider your unique constitution or prakriti. In Ayurveda, it’s important to ensure balance among the doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Shilajit tends to heat the body and is primarily beneficial for people with Vata and Kapha imbalance, thanks to its warm nature.

For consumption, you should start small, maybe a pea-sized amount of pure Shilajit resin, mixed in warm milk or water. Take it in the morning before meals, and observe how your body reacts a day or two. Dose adjustments depend on your health status and goals.

It’s worth noting that not everyone’s body responds the same way. You would need to be cautious if you have high Pitta as the warming nature of Shilajit might not be favorable, and if there’s any serious medical issue or medications involved, consult your healthcare provider.

As for stamina and recovery, Shilajit is linked with enhanced mitochondrial function—the powerhouse of your cells—which could plausibly contribute to greater energy and recovery. However, be wary about sourcing, as purity is crucial; poor-quality or contaminated products will pose health risks.

Remember that no single supplement can replace the fundamentals of a balanced diet, proper hydration, managing stress, and getting enough rest. Shilajit could complement these, though it’s best to check if it aligns with your personal health needs and especially your dosha balance.
