Oh wow, that’s frustrating. Swelling like you described, it can be pretty uncomfortable. In Ayurveda, we would say that your body is possibly reacting due to an imbalance, maybe an aggravated Kapha dosha, which can cause excess fluid retention and lead to that puffy appearance. It sounds like you might also have a hypersensitivity reaction, where certain foods trigger your body’s defense system more than necessary.
Tala, tikha, and fermented foods can be stimulating and can provoke imbalance in some folks. They have qualities that are heating and can lead to more Pitta and Vata aggravation too, sometimes. Kapha governs the body’s structure and fluids, so when it’s imbalanced, it can lead to retention of fluids, i.e. swelling. Maybe there’s also weak digestive fire (Agni) involved — if your Agni’s low, the body might not be processing foods efficiently, leading to ama, or toxins.
But hey, keep an eye out—sometimes, this kind of swelling might require immediate medical attention, like if it’s accompanied by difficulties in breathing or something like that. Emergency situations should not be neglected.
For less emergency stuff, managing your diet’s key. Keep away from overly salty or processed foods. Try having warm, easily digestible foods, and focus on Pitta-pacifying qualities; think: sweet, bitter, astringent tastes. Ginger tea could help strengthen Agni, but not too much because you don’t wanna overheat the system, just enough to balance.
Yoga and regular exercise help stimulate circulation, reduces excess Kapha. And remember, balance’s key—overdoing anything has the opposite effect. Breath work (Pranayama) might help regulate energies too. And stay hydrated with warm water, it aids in flushing out toxins effortlessly. Keep observing what triggers it and jot it down!
