Has Anyone Tried Patanjali Products for Psoriasis Treatment? Need Honest Feedback - #1228

Gabriella

I’ve had psoriasis for about three years now, mostly on my scalp and elbows. The patches are dry, itchy, and sometimes even crack and bleed. I’ve been using steroid creams, but I’m tired of the side effects, and the relief is always temporary. I recently came across Patanjali’s psoriasis treatment products and am wondering if they actually work. I’ve read about their Kayakalp Vati and Divya Arogyavardhini Vati, which are supposed to help with skin conditions. Has anyone tried these specifically for psoriasis? Did you notice any improvement, and how long did it take to see results? Also, do I need to follow any specific diet or lifestyle changes while taking these medicines? I’d love to hear real experiences, especially if you’ve struggled with similar symptoms.

Doctors' responses

Patanjali’s Kayakalp Vati and Divya Arogyavardhini Vati are often recommended in Ayurveda for skin conditions like psoriasis, as they aim to detoxify the body, balance internal doshas, and improve skin health. Kayakalp Vati is particularly known for its benefits in treating chronic skin disorders by addressing the root causes of inflammation and toxicity (ama) in the body. Divya Arogyavardhini Vati supports liver health and helps in detoxification, which can also aid in managing psoriasis. However, results vary from person to person, and it may take several weeks or even months to notice improvement, as psoriasis is a chronic condition that requires long-term management. Alongside these remedies, Ayurveda often recommends dietary and lifestyle changes, such as avoiding spicy, oily, and processed foods, increasing the intake of cooling and anti-inflammatory foods (like ghee, fresh vegetables, and whole grains), and practicing regular detoxification and stress-management techniques (like meditation and yoga). It’s also important to avoid triggers like alcohol or extreme weather conditions, as they can exacerbate symptoms. It would be beneficial to consult an Ayurvedic practitioner who can provide a personalized treatment plan based on your specific constitution and current imbalances.

I hear you—it can be really frustrating dealing with psoriasis, especially when the relief from creams doesn’t last. Patanjali’s products like Kayakalp Vati and Arogyavardhini Vati do have certain herbs that are traditionally known in Ayurveda to help with skin disorders, but let’s dig a bit deeper.

When it comes to using something like Kayakalp Vati, it contains herbs that are aimed at detoxifying the blood and balancing Pitta and Kapha. These imbalances often contribute to skin conditions like psoriasis. If you decide to try it, it’s generally recommended in doses of 1-2 tablets twice daily, preferably after meals. But, always check in with an Ayurvedic doctor first, just to be sure it suits your unique body constitution, or prakriti.

Arogyavardhini Vati, on the other hand, supports liver health, which is pretty crucial because a stressed liver can exacerbate skin issues. Similar dosage applies here as well, like 1-2 tablets twice daily. However, results, how quickly they show, can really vary from person to person. Some might notice change within few weeks, while for others it might take few months.

As for lifestyle and diet, it’s quite important in Ayurveda to support these treatments. Try to follow a diet that avoids triggering Pitta—so spicy, oily, and overly salty food should probably be minimized. Including coolant foods like cucumber, coriander, or coconut water can be helpful, and always ensure proper hydration and avoid alcohol. Stress reduction techniques, like yoga or meditation, can also really help—in many cases, stress is a big trigger for psoriatic flares.

One thing to bear in mind is that if your psoriasis is severe, or worsening, it’s really critical to engage with a healthcare provider. Sometimes a combination of allopathic and Ayurvedic care provides the best management. Stay safe, and wishing you the best in finding what works for you!

Thanks so much for clarifying this! I had no idea mixing meds could be risky. I'll stick to my doctor's meds and look into Ayurveda separately.
