Thyroid and weight loss - #1258

Ankita Verma

I have hypothyroidism since 4 years and mild pcod and mild Irritable bowel syndrome. Still I always used to get regular periods, only recently since 2-3 months my periods started to come 7-10 days late. My height is 5'3" And weight is 75 kg. I want to lose weight, I have started yoga recently and some healthy habits too. I want to take triphala churna and medohar guggulu to help me with weight loss. Can you recommend if I can take both together? And please also suggest me the dosage and how to start it to get maximum benefits? Shall I start taking medohar guggulu 1 tablet with warm water after lunch and triphala churna at night before bed time with warm water? Please also suggest me what I can do to aid my hormonal imbalance and weight loss.

To aid in weight loss and manage your hormonal imbalances related to hypothyroidism, PCOD, and IBS, combining Triphala Churna and Medohar Guggulu can be an effective approach. Triphala helps improve digestion, detoxify the body, and promote regular bowel movements, while Medohar Guggulu is traditionally used to support metabolism and reduce excess fat. You can take 1 teaspoon of Triphala Churna with warm water at bedtime and 1 tablet of Medohar Guggulu after lunch with warm water to start. It's important to take both remedies consistently and monitor your body’s response, as they work gradually. In addition to the Ayurvedic remedies, focus on a balanced, low-glycemic diet rich in whole foods, lean proteins, and healthy fats, while avoiding processed foods. Regular exercise, particularly yoga combined with cardio and strength training, can help boost metabolism and support weight loss. Managing stress through relaxation techniques and ensuring quality sleep are also essential for hormonal balance. By adopting these practices, you can improve digestion, support weight loss, and help balance your hormones naturally.

Okay, let’s see what we can do here with some Ayurvedic insights. Sounds like you’re on a good track with yoga and healthier habits; that’s always a strong beginning. First, about taking triphala churna and medohar guggulu, it can be done. They both work well together for assisting weight loss, especially when there’s hypothyroidism and PCOD in play. **But** before starting any herbal regimen, it’s key to consult first with your healthcare provider or Ayurvedic practitioner, just to make sure there’s no interactions with any meds or conditions you may have overlooked. For triphala churna, you can indeed take it at night before going to bed, usually half to one teaspoon with warm water. It aids digestion and gently detoxifies, which is good 'cause that digestive fire (agni) needs to be strong to metabolize properly. Now for medohar guggulu, 1 tablet is okay, and taking it with warm water post-lunch sounds solid. This particular guggulu formulation is aimed at reducing meda dhatu or excess fat tissue, aiding weight management especially connected to hormonal issues. Hrm, with hypothyroidism and PCOD, balancing those hormones is crucial. Warm, well-cooked, and lightly spiced food supports your digestive system better than raw or overly cold foods. Stuff like warming spices — ginger, cinnamon, and fennel — are gonna help keep that digestive fire roaring. Hydration, don't skip that. But avoid too much cold water; prefer warm or room-temp beverages. Also, try to have your meals at regular intervals, aligning with the body's natural circadian rhythm boosts your metabolism's timing. Find time for activities that manage stress levels. Keep that cortisol, you know, adversity hormone, in check which affects weight and hormones. Short walks, meditation maybe... simple stuff like breathing exercises. A little patience and consistency go a long way here. Be kind to yourself during this journey, it's a marathon, not a sprint. And always seek professional advice when you feel unsure. Hope this helps a bit!
