It sounds like you’re dealing with chronic nasal congestion, possibly due to allergies. While surgery is a common recommendation for persistent blockages, Ayurveda offers natural remedies that may help alleviate your symptoms.

Ayurvedic Approaches: Nasya (Nasal Therapy): Nasya involves applying herbal oils like Anu Taila or Sesame oil to the nostrils to clear sinuses and reduce inflammation. Steam Inhalation: Inhaling steam with herbs like eucalyptus, peppermint, or ginger can help relieve congestion and loosen mucus. Herbal Remedies: Turmeric reduces inflammation, while honey and ginger can soothe the nasal passages. Triphala supports respiratory health and reduces sinus inflammation. Dietary Tips: Avoid allergenic foods like dairy and processed foods, and include anti-inflammatory foods like turmeric and ginger. Lifestyle: Practice Pranayama (breathing exercises) like Nadi Shodhana to clear nasal passages. Abhyanga (self-massage with warm oil) improves circulation and supports respiratory health. You can use Ayurveda alongside medical treatments to help manage symptoms, but consult your doctor before trying new remedies.

Ah, dealing with a chronic nasal blockage can be quite annoying, ain’t it? This alternating nostril blockage, also known as a nasal cycle, is actually a natural process. But when it gets all stuffed up on one side or the other, it can be super uncomfortable. Sounds like you’ve been told it’s linked to allergies, and surgery’s on the table, hmmm… Can be a big step, so exploring some non-surgical, ayurvedic options might be worth a shot.

In Ayurveda, this might be linked to an imbalance in the Kapha dosha, with some Pitta thrown in due to inflammation. To help with this, you might want to consider a few lifestyle tweaks and remedies. First, steer clear of cold and damp environments as much as you can – these could increase the Kapha imbalance, making things worse. Keep your environment warm and dry, wear a scarf around your nose and mouth if needed!

Try doing Jal Neti twice a day – it’s a nasal cleansing technique using warm saline water. It’s great to clear up nasal passages. Ask your doc if you’re unsure how to do it safely. Also, steam inhalation with a few drops of eucalyptus oil can help open things up, even when things are feeling particularly blocked.

Diet-wise, avoid dairy, cold foods and overly spicy or fried stuff… They tend to aggravate mucus production. Instead, include warm, and lightly spiced foods. Ginger, turmeric and black pepper are your friends. Like, a ginger tea in the morning with a pinch of turmeric could really help.

But hey, if this is something that disrupts your daily life too much, or if your face starts feeling puffy or painful, definitely stick with your doctor’s guidance. It’s crucial to stay safe and sometimes surgery is the right path when others aren’t enough. But, gradual lifestyle changes can sometimes do wonders too.

Thanks so much for clarifying this! I had no idea mixing meds could be risky. I'll stick to my doctor's meds and look into Ayurveda separately.
