Hi Esther,
Can you describe if the pain is constant or if it comes and goes? Does the pain worsen with movement or rest, and are there any signs of swelling or stiffness in the joints? Also, have you noticed any other symptoms like fatigue, fever, or difficulty sleeping?
You might benefit from Ashwagandha and Turmeric (Curcumin), which have anti-inflammatory properties. Boswellia can also support joint health. Along with herbal treatments, consider gentle stretches, hot/cold compresses for the painful areas, and maintaining a balanced diet with anti-inflammatory foods like leafy greens and omega-3-rich sources like flaxseed.

Arthritis can be quite debilitating, especially when it begins affecting multiple joints. Ayurveda offers ways to manage and reduce arthritis pain by addressing the root cause, restoring balance in the body, and supporting joint health.
To begin with, arthritis in Ayurveda is often associated with an imbalance in the Vata dosha, which governs movement and circulation. When Vata is imbalanced, joint pain, dryness, and stiffness can occur. To rebalance Vata, it’s important to focus on warming, nourishing, and grounding practices.
First, let’s talk about diet. Opt for warm, cooked meals that are easy to digest. Think soups, stews, and porridges. Spices like ginger, turmeric, and cinnamon help reduce inflammation and support circulation. You might consider including ghee or sesame oil, as they are nourishing and help lubricate the joints. Limit raw foods, cold drinks, and processed sugars, as they can aggravate Vata.
Daily routines are another area of focus. Gentle yoga or stretching can help in maintaining mobility and reducing stiffness. Practices like tai chi or qigong might also be beneficial. Emphasize a regular routine; waking up, eating, and sleeping at consistent times stabilizes Vata.
Therapies such as Abhyanga, an Ayurvedic self-massage with warm sesame or medicated oils, can be done before a bath. This not only alleviates joint pain but also nourishes the body and mind. Herbal supplements like Ashwagandha and Gugul often support joint health and should be considered with guidance of a knowledgeable practitioner.
However, since your entire body is now affected, I recommend seeking comprehensive evaluation by an experienced Ayurvedic practitioner. They can provide personalized recommendations and address any underlying conditions. It’s also important to maintain communication with your allopathic doctor, especially if you’ll combine approaches.
Managing stress through meditation or breathing exercises like Pranayama can also help, as stress can worsen inflammation.
Remember, results in Ayurveda can take time. Patience and consistency are key along with monitoring your condition. If pain is severe or worsens it’s crucial to seek immediate medical help. Systematic approaches through Ayurveda might ease your symptoms, but always ensure no interactions or conflicts with your current medications.
