Doctors’ responses
Yes, rapid weight loss can lead to hair fall due to nutrient deficiencies, hormonal changes, and increased stress on the body. Since you’ve lost 12 kg in 3 months, your body may not be getting enough protein, iron, biotin, zinc, and healthy fats, which are essential for hair health.

Thanks for your reply maam. I have a question maam, I am thinking that I am eating healthy and avoiding all the junks, then how can my body lack all the above nutrients and vitamins?
Also can you please guide me as to how should I get all the above mentioned nutrients to have a healthy hair?
You’re right to wonder why hair fall is happening despite eating healthy. The issue isn’t just avoiding junk food but ensuring you’re getting enough essential nutrients for hair growth. Rapid weight loss (losing 12 kg in 3 months) can cause nutrient deficiencies, stress on the body, and hormonal imbalances, all of which can trigger hair fall.

Hi Kunal,
Rapid weight loss may lead to hair fall due to nutritional deficiencies, stress, and malabsorption. It's advisable to get a blood check-up and thyroid profile done.
Simple Steps to Follow (Consistency is the Key factor)
Balanced Nutrition – Ensure adequate protein, iron, and vitamins in your diet.
Hydration – Drink plenty of water
Amla (Indian Gooseberry) – Eat 1 fresh amla daily or drink amla juice to boost collagen and strengthen hair.
Methi (Fenugreek) Seeds – Soak 1 tsp methi seeds overnight, chew them in the morning, or drink methi water to improve hair strength.
Soaked Nuts & Seeds – Eat soaked almonds, walnuts, flaxseeds, and pumpkin seeds daily for omega-3 fatty acids and biotin.
Aloe Vera Juice – Drink 20-30 ml of fresh aloe vera juice on an empty stomach to reduce inflammation and improve scalp health.
Curry Leaves – Chew 5-7 curry leaves daily to nourish hair follicles
Sesame & Black Seeds – Take 1 tsp sesame seeds or black seeds daily for essential minerals like zinc and magnesium.
Bhringraj Powder or Juice – Consume 1 tsp
bhringraj powder with warm water daily to strengthen hair .
Triphala Powder – Take 1 tsp triphala powder at night with warm water for better digestion and detoxification, preventing hair fall.
Externally
Oil Massage – Massage your scalp with coconut oil, castor oil, or Yasthi madhu thaila to improve blood circulation and strengthen roots.
Aloe Vera Gel – Apply fresh aloe vera gel to your scalp, leave it for 30 minutes, then rinse. It helps in reducing dandruff and soothing the scalp.
Fenugreek (Methi) Seeds – Soak 2 tbsp methi seeds overnight, grind them into a paste, apply to the scalp, leave for 30 minutes, then rinse. It strengthens hair follicles.
Amla (Indian Gooseberry) – Mix amla powder with coconut oil, apply to the scalp, and wash after an hour. Amla is rich in vitamin C and promotes hair growth.
Hibiscus Flower – Blend hibiscus flowers with coconut oil to make a hair mask. It nourishes the scalp and reduces hair fall.
Neem Leaves – Boil neem leaves, cool the water, and use it to rinse your hair. It helps with scalp infections and dandruff.

Firstly, congratulations on taking steps towards a healthier lifestyle and achieving significant weight loss. Yes, sometimes rapid weight loss can lead to hair fall due to bodily stress or nutritional deficiencies. As per Ayurveda, hair fall is often linked to an imbalance in the Pitta dosha, which may be exacerbated by nutritional changes, lifestyle, or hormonal shifts.
For addressing hair fall, begin by ensuring a balanced intake of essential nutrients. Your diet might be lacking in proteins, iron, zinc, and vitmamins like Biotin, commonly found in dairy, nuts, seeds, and green leafy veggies. Since you are avoiding dairy, find alternates - include foods like almonds, chickpeas, and spinach. You might also consider a blood test to rule out anaemia or thyroid issues, which can also cause hair issues.
Consider incorporating Amla (Indian gooseberry) into your routine, either as juice or directly as a fruit. It is a well-known Ayurvedic remedy for hair health–nourishing hair follicles, and enhancing shine. Also, try massaging your scalp regularly with a warm oil blend—think coconut or sesame oil infused with Brahmi or Bhringraj powders for their Pitta balancing effect. Hot oil massages improve circulation and help in hair regeneration.
Brisk jogging might be somewhat Pitta-aggravating. Balance this with calming activities like yoga or meditation for mind-body harmony. Your body might also benefit from Shirodhara, an Ayurvedic therapy which might help reduce stress levels, thus potentially slowing hair fall.
Since you are adapting a significant lifestyle shift, slight adjustments can be key. Remember, sustaining hair growth from within is a gradual process; be patient with changes. If hair fall persists, consulting a local health professional would be wise to ensure no underlying condition goes unaddressed.
