For managing diabetes and elevated creatinine levels, a holistic approach rooted in Ayurveda could be beneficial. Considering the prolonged condition, focusing on balancing vata and kapha doshas is essential. One practical way to begin is through diet. Inclusion of bitter gourd (karela), fenugreek seeds, and neem powder can help manage blood sugar levels. He can drink a glass of bitter gourd juice in the morning before breakfast. As a small addition, a teaspoon of fenugreek seeds, soaked overnight, can also be taken with water on an empty stomach. For elevated creatinine, it’s crucial to support kidney function. Ayurvedic herbs like Punarnava, Gokshura, and Varun are noted for their renal support properties. Punarnava, taken as a decoction or in tablet form, may help promote kidney health and reduce fluid retention. Ensure adequate hydration with room temperature water throughout the day, as it aids in flushing out toxins and supports kidney function. However, it’s crucial to modulate fluid intake if there's significant fluid retention. Further, proper digestion is key. Encourage him to consume easily digestible foods like vegetable soups, spinach, and moong dal, preventing the formation of ama (toxins). Ginger tea, consumed twice daily, aids digestion and helps in blood sugar control. Consistent meal timings alongside moderate physical activity like walking can also contribute to maintaining stable sugar levels. Stress management through meditation, or breathing exercises like Anulom Vilom, is helpful in managing blood sugar levels. Regular practice helps in calming the mind and balancing extatic vata. Regular monitoring of blood sugar and creatinine is essential. It’s necessary to seek advice from a healthcare professional whenever required, especially considering his medical history. While Ayurveda offers supportive strategies, they should complement, not replace, his current medical treatment plan.
