Curcumin, which is a component of turmeric, does have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, and it can be supportive in managing symptoms related to diabetic neuropathy. However, it is not a standalone solution for the symptoms your mother is experiencing. While curcumin can help mitigate oxidative stress, it's important to integrate it along with a comprehensive Ayurvedic approach tailored to her condition. Since your mother has been through recent medical procedures and her symptoms of diabetic neuropathy have aggravated post-surgery, the care should also address recovery from these procedures. Ensuring a supportive regimen for her agni (digestive fire) and maintaining doshic balance is essential. Let's consider the following steps for a holistic management: 1. **Dietary Adjustments**: Encourage a diet that is light yet nourishing to support her digestion. Warm, cooked meals, including khichdi, soups, and stews, which are easy to digest, would be ideal. Add ginger, cinnamon and turmeric to meals to strengthen digestion and reduce inflammation. 2. **Herbal Remedies**: Alongside curcumin, consider using Ashwagandha and Triphala which can help improve nerve health and detoxify the system. Consult a practitioner for the appropriate dosage based on her constitution. 3. **Ayurvedic Oils**: Massaging her feet with Mahanarayan oil could contribute to improving circulation and sensation. Ensure this is done gently and regularly. 4. **Yoga and Breathwork**: Gentle yoga and pranayama breathing exercises can help in enhancing circulation and reducing stress, which is beneficial for neuropathy. 5. **Daily Routine**: Encourage her to have a consistent daily routine, with regular meal timings and sleep schedule, to help stabilize her body and mind. These remedies should be implemented with caution while adhering to any medical advice given by her doctors. It might take some time to see noticeable improvements, so patience and consistent care are key. Regular consultations with both her diabetes specialist and an Ayurvedic physician are recommended to adjust her treatment as needed.
