Doctors' responses

In Ayurveda, psoriasis and eczema are typically seen as conditions resulting from an imbalance in the Pitta and Vata doshas, leading to inflammation and dryness in the skin. For psoriasis and eczema, you can use herbs like Neem, Turmeric, and Manjistha, which have anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and detoxifying properties to help soothe and heal the skin. Applying a paste of Aloe Vera or using coconut oil can help hydrate the skin and reduce irritation. Internally, Triphala and Guggulu can support detoxification and reduce inflammation. A Pitta-pacifying diet, rich in cooling foods like cucumbers, leafy greens, and coconut, while avoiding spicy, oily, and processed foods, can help reduce flare-ups. It is important to also avoid harsh chemicals or soaps and use natural, gentle cleansers. Regular oil massages with sesame oil or a medicated oil like Mahanarayan oil can improve circulation and nourish the skin. Incorporating stress-reduction practices like yoga and meditation will help balance the mind and body, which is crucial for managing chronic conditions like psoriasis and eczema. Always consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner for personalized guidance and treatment.

Alright, dealing with psoriasis and eczema is not a fun ride but Ayurveda has some insights that might help. So, both these conditions often stem from imbalane in Vata and Kapha doshas, leading to excess heat and inflammation in the body.

For psoriais — especially on the scalp and lips — applying Neem oil could work wonders. Its cooling properties pacify Pitta and detox the skin. Massage gently into the scalp and affected areas once a day, ideally before showering, and leave it in for about 30 minutes.

Also, internal cleansing is crucial so you might try Triphala to regulate digestion and eliminate ama (toxins). Take one teaspoon of Triphala powder with warm water at night. It’ll help balance out your system over time.

For eczema, particularly on legs and waist, make an easy paste with turmeric and coconut oil – both are anti-inflammatory and quite soothing. Apply this paste on the affected areas twice daily. Avoid wearing synthetic fibers; stick to cotton – it’s way gentler on irritated skin.

Your diet also plays a key role. Try to minimize spicy, fried, and processed foods. Load up on fresh veggies and fruits, and keep yourself hydrated. Warm soups and stews are good picks – they balance Vata.

Lifestyle changes ain’t just a cliche, so consider creating a daily routine of stress reduction techniques, like yoga and meditation. Stress can exacerbate these conditions, so a little mindfulness goes a long way.

If you have severe flare-ups or when nothing seems to working, better to consult an Ayurvedic doctor for personalized pancha karma therapies. And yeah, if any condition worsens, always consult a medical professional!
