Usha

55 years old women was adviced for Hysterectomy around 2 years ago for Adenomyosis along with fibroid uterus diagnosed few years back, but she chose to go with the Ayurvedic treatments by considering the hereditary aspect of late menopause in the family. Now that she is 55 yrs old and there is no sign of menopause yet, facing difficulty with the bulky, painful uterus even while walking, standing, hot flashes, weakness, heavy bleeding with clots, frequent menstrual cycles, fainting during initial days of each cycles, is adversely affecting her daily life. MRI Abdomen & Pelvis : Uterus : 10.6*7.2*8.9 mm Fibroid : 10*7*6 mm Endometrium : 5mm thickness Right ovary - 2 simple cysts : 11*15mm & 14*15mm Left ovary - Atrophic Kindly give an opinion whether to continue with Ayurvedic treatments or to go for Hysterectomy in this case?

In light of the condition described, especially with symptoms like heavy bleeding, bulky, painful uterus, and fainting spells during the menstrual cycle, it may be prudent to seriously consider surgical options such as a hysterectomy. The symptoms show significant impact on daily wellness and quality of life, which need critical consideration.

Adenomyosis combined, with fibroid uterus and the mentioned MRI results, pose complications that can—at times—make Ayurveda alone challenging to manage. Particularly, the endometrial hyperplasia and substantial fibroids noted might not fully resolve through Ayurvedic therapies only. If you’re open to a blend of conventional and Ayurvedic approaches, surgery could alleviate acute symptoms, while Ayurveda continues to support hormonal balance and overall health post-surgery.

Nevertheless, if a non-surgical route is still preferred, there’s specific Ayurvedic interventions worth exploring further. Focus on pacifying Kapha and balancing Vata could help slightly reduce symptoms while improving uterine health. Ayurveda emphasizes the importance of Agni, or digestive fire, so starting with dietary adjustments to enhance metabolism and reduce congestion should be prioritized. A diet light on dairy, avoiding excessive oily, cold, and heavy foods, while focusing on warm, easily digestible meals is advised.

Herbal remedies like Ashoka and Shatavari might provide some comfort by supporting hormonal balance but may not manage the prolapse fully. Regular exercises like targeted yoga and breathing exercises can help bolster energies but, similar to the herbal strategies, could be limited in dealing with the described condition in isolation.

For immediate needs and symptom relief, accessing urgent medical help should come first. Emmauating medical advice alongside Ayurvedic consultation ensures you make decisions rooted in safety and wellness. Encouragingly, Ayurveda can still play a restorative role post-surgery, fostering balance in the body and mind as it recovers and transitions onto a healthier track.
