Doctors’ responses

Hand tremors can be quite frustrating, especially when they're affecting daily activities like eating or writing. Since you've ruled out thyroid, BP, and sugar issues, let's look at how Ayurveda can offer some relief. Often, tremors are linked with an imbalance in the Vata dosha, which governs movement and nerve impulses. Here’s a rundown of what you can try: First, let's talk diet. Vata imbalance can be managed by eating warm, nourishing foods. Try including more soups, stews, and lightly spiced dishes with warming spices like ginger or black pepper. Avoid cold foods and drinks, and dry items like crackers or popcorn. Ghee is beneficial, so add a teaspoon to your meals; it’s said to calm Vata. Herbs can also help. Ashwagandha and Brahmi are both calming to the nervous system and are often advised for tremors and stress. You can take Ashwagandha churna (powder) with warm milk at night; a teaspoon should suffice. Brahmi can be consumed as a tea or capsule form. Daily routine matters too. Regular abhyanga, or self-massage, with warm sesame oil can be grounding and soothing. Do it in morning before a warm shower. Getting enough rest is crucial as fatigue can worsen tremors, so aim for 7-8 hours of sleep. Now, don’t forget some gentle exercises. Yoga poses like Trikonasana (Triangle pose) and Vriksasana (Tree pose) help stabilize Vata and improve balance. Incorporate pranayama, like deep belly breathing or alternate nostril breathing, to calm the mind. Avoid caffeine and stress, as both can aggravate tremors. You should also limit screen time before bed to improve sleep quality. If possible, connect with an Ayurvedic practitioner locally in Kathmandu for personalized guidance. Peer support from local communities and groups can be uplifting as well. In cases where tremors increase or don’t improve, seeking a neurologist's help would be wise. Health is essential, and immediate medical advice can sometimes be necessary.
