How can Ayurveda eye wash help with my persistent eye irritation? - #21841

Anonymous

I am struggling with this annoying eye irritation for the last couple of weeks. It's like my eyes have turned into a sandpaper surface or something... I’ve tried everything to relief it, really!! But nothing seems to work and, man, it’s super frustrating! So, I started doing a bit of research online and came across this ayurveda eye wash thing that sounds like it could be helpful. I dunno, I sorta like the idea of trying natural remedies and stuff instead of just piling on more chemicals, ya know? So here's the thing — sometimes my eyes feel dry and itchy, and there’s this weird burning sensation, especially when I stare at my computer for too long, which is basically my life now. And, to make matters worse, every time I think it’s getting better, BAM, there’s the irritation again! I’ve been trying to figure out if the ayurveda eye wash might actually work for me. Like, is it meant to calm down these sort of symptoms? I’ve read that it can help balance the doshas and promote clarity in vision, which sounds amazing. I keep kinda hoping this might be the solution to my endless cycle of discomfort. So, has anyone else tried ayurveda eye wash for similar issues? How long did it take to see some improvement? I’m just kinda lost on what to do next. My lifestyle isn’t exactly helping — work, screen time, you name it. Oh, and I’ve tried those over-the-counter drops, and they don't really cut it for me, honestly. I feel like I'm just chasing after quick fixes, and I don’t want to be stuck in this eye irritation loop for ages! I’m also curious if anyone has specific recommendations on what kind of herbs or ingredients to look for in ayurveda eye wash? And how do I even prepare it? Should I be cautious about anything? I mean, I don’t wanna make my eyes worse — it's difficult enough navigating the daily grind with all these symptoms without them feeling like they’re burning or feeling gritty. Just thinking maybe if more people can share their experiences or tips with ayurveda eye wash, it could help me figure this out once and for all? I hope to find something that provides not just a temporary fix but maybe even help healing whatever’s going on inside! I really appreciate any info or thoughts you all can share. Thanks so much!

Doctors’ responses

Hi, Iam Dr shaniba Eye wash is a basic Ayurvedic practice for cleaning the eyes and relieving dryness or irritation. According to ayurveda, your condition is a vata- pitta dushti. Dryness, roughness and light sensitivity can be due to the vata imbalance. Excess screen time and lack of sleep might be the cause. Burning sensation, irritation and itching can be due to pitta imbalance. 1. Guduchyadi kashayam 15 ml+ 45 ml lukewarm water intake half an hour before food 2 times for 2 weeks 2. Kaisora guggulu 1-0-1 with kashayam 3. Triphala eye wash twice daily. Bring 1 cup (250 ml) of clean water to a boil and let it cool slightly. Add 1 teaspoon of Triphala powder to the warm water. Let the mixture sit covered overnight at room temperature to allow full infusion. In the morning, strain the liquid multiple times through a very fine muslin cloth or sterile cotton to remove all particles (important to avoid eye irritation). Fill a sterile eye cup with the strained Triphala water. Tilt your head down, place the eye cup firmly over one eye, and tilt your head back while keeping the eye open. Blink several times to allow the liquid to wash the eye. Discard used liquid and repeat with the other eye. - if irritation occurs, discontinue and consult an ayurvedic practitioner. 4. Triphala ghrita 1 tsp daily at night. Eye exercises 1. Palming Rub your palms together until warm. Close your eyes and gently cup your warm palms over them without pressure. Focus on the darkness and breathe deeply for 1–2 minutes. Benefits: Relaxes optic nerves, relieves eye strain, reduces Vata. 2. Eye Rotation Do each slowly, 5–10 repetitions, blinking between movements: Side-to-side (left to right and back) Up and down Diagonal (top-left to bottom-right, and reverse) Circular (clockwise and counter-clockwise) Benefits: Strengthens eye muscles, increases flexibility, stimulates tear production.
