WHAT IS PCOD IN AYURVEDA? In Ayurveda, PCOD is described as a yoni vyapad(disorder of female reproductive system), especially “ARTAVA DUSHTI”(impure or disturbed menstrual blood). It mainly occurs due to -Kapha accumulation= blocked the channels and causes cysts -medo dhatu (fat tissue) imbalance - agni(digestive fire) is low- causing poor metabolism -Aama(toxins) formulation due to indigestion food

This condition affects your hormones, metabolism, and ovulation. The root cause often lies in hormonal imbalance, excess Kapha & Meda (fat tissue), and poor digestion and metabolism (Agni imbalance). But it is reversible, with regular effort.

In PCOD, your ovaries don’t release eggs properly due to hormonal disturbance. This causes periods to become irregular or stop altogether. Excess androgens (male hormones) also lead to facial hair, hair fall, acne, and pigmentation. Because your metabolism is slow, weight increases easily, especially around the belly. Over time, this affects your mental health too — mood swings, sadness, low confidence, etc.

You’re not alone in this — but continuing to depend on pills every month is not the long-term answer. Ayurveda can help restart natural cycles, reduce cysts, improve hair and skin, and uplift your mood, slowly but steadily.

These medicines will help to regulate your menstrual cycle. Reduce sugar, carbs and processed foods. Do suryanamaskara, asanas etc regularly. Brisk walking for 15- 30 min at evening.

If your periods do not become regular within 3 months, it is advisable to undergo an ultrasound (USG) and consult a qualified Ayurvedic gynaecologist for further evaluation and possible Panchakarma therapy.
