Howt to reduce allergies or hives? - #32590
Namaskaram, I have been suffering with hives from 10 days. It started with a small red spot and then started getting all over the skin. They are small tiny red spots and some are skin colored. They are itching and sometimes burning. Please guide diet and medicines. I also had similar reaction around this time last year. What should I do now while having the hives and what to do to prevent them in the future? Thank you.

Avoid sour, fermented food and bakery products. Tab. Shati 2-0-2 Urtiplex lotion for local application.
Experiencing hives with itching and burning sensations is often linked to an imbalance in the doshas, particularly Pitta and sometimes Vata. To address this condition, incorporating certain dietary and lifestyle modifications can be beneficial.
For immediate relief, try consuming cooling foods that calm Pitta. Opt for coconut water, cucumbers, and melons. These are naturally hydrating and help soothe the inflammation. Avoid hot, spicy, fried and overly salty foods as they tend to aggravate Pitta and subsequently worsen the hives. Also, ensure you’re drinking ample water and herbal teas like chamomile or licorice which can provide cooling effects.
Aloe vera gel, when applied externally, may help with reducing the itchiness and burning sensation due to its cooling properties. Make sure to use fresh aloe for optimum effectiveness.
For herbal help, you can consider taking Ayurvedic formulations like Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia) which is known for its immune-enhancing, anti-inflammatory properties. A common dosage is around 500 mg of Guduchi powder, taken with warm water twice a day., but it’s always a good idea to consult with a practitioner to determine the right dosage for your constitution.
In terms of lifestyle, engage in regular practices of Pranayama or specific yoga poses like Shitali Pranayama and Matsyasana, which help pacify Pitta. Make sure you’re getting enough rest and managing stress levels, since stress can exacerbate such conditions.
To prevent future outbreaks, it might be helpful to keep a journal and identify any triggers like specific foods, environmental factors, or stressors that might contribute to your reactions. Addressing such factors can go a long way in preventing recurrence.
If symptoms persist or worsen, consult an Ayurvedic practitioner or a healthcare provider as it may require a closer analysis of your underlying doshic imbalances and tailored treatments.
