I have acne on my chest, back and arms - have tried diet but how can I restore hormone balance as a young female? I have had it since I was 13 and I am now 23 - nothing has made it better and I am unable to identify thetriggers that make it worse or when it flares up in particular

Begin by paying attention to your diet, which plays a key role in balancing hormones and doshas. Focus on Pitta-pacifying foods such as fresh fruits (like apples, pears, grapes), vegetables (such as cucumbers, green leafy greens), and whole grains. Reduce or avoid spicy, oily, and fried foods as well as processed sugar as these can increase Pitta and aggravate acne. Dairy and red meat can sometimes be triggers—consider reducing these if you notice they exacerbate your symptoms.

Incorporate herbs like Triphala, which helps detoxify the body and improve digestion, taken at bedtime with warm water can support skin health. Ashwagandha is known to aid in hormonal balance and reduce stress, which can exacerbate acne. It’s often taken in in powder form, a teaspoon mixed with warm milk or water in the evening.

Maintaining a consistent daily routine can stabilize your body’s natural rhythm. Early morning yogic practices, and simple pranayama breathing exercises like Sheetali and Nadi Shodhana may help cool down the body and calm the mind, balancing Pitta. Aim for regular sleep patterns, as lack of sleep can further disturb hormonal balance.

Keeping the skin clean and sweat-free is vital. Natural exfoliants like besan (gram flour) mixed with turmeric and water or rosewater can be used to cleanse the body gently. External application of neem paste might help reduce inflammation and combat bacteria.
