Hot flushes after undergoing surgery, such as uterus and fibroid removal, often occur due to hormonal changes in the body. In Ayurveda, these can be related to imbalances in the doshas, particularly an increase in pitta or vata dosha. Here are a few approaches from an Ayurvedic perspective to help manage these symptoms:

First, cooling foods can help pacify the excess pitta dosha, which might be contributing to your hot flushes. Include more naturally cooling fruits and vegetables in your diet such as cucumbers, melons, and leafy greens. Coconut water is also excellent due to its hydrating properties that help in cooling the body.

Secondly, incorporating certain herbs might provide relief. Shatavari is known in Ayurveda to support the reproductive system and can be particularly helpful post-surgery. You can take shatavari powder or tablets as directed by an Ayurvedic practitioner. Another useful herb is Ashwagandha, which helps in balancing the vata dosha and provides general support for recovery and stress management.

Staying well-hydrated is also crucial. Drinking lukewarm water throughout the day, infused with a few mint leaves, can provide a cooling effect. Avoiding triggers like hot drinks, spicy foods, and alcohol can also help in reducing episodes of hot flushes.

Practicing calming techniques like meditation or gentle yoga can aid in managing stress, which often exacerbate symptoms. Simple breathing exercises like Anulom Vilom (alternate nostril breathing) may help to stabilize emotional fluctuations.

Finally, wear breathable, comfortable clothing to help mitigate the sensation of hot flushes. Cotton or other natural fabrics can be more suitable. Ensure you have a well-regulated room temperature, especially while sleeping, to minimize discomfort during the night.

Remember, always consult with a healthcare provider or an Ayurvedic doctor before starting any new treatment, especially post-surgery, to make sure it is safe and appropriate for your specific condition. If the hot flushes persist or worsen, seeking professional medical advice is advisable.

Experiencing hot flushes after having a uterus and fibroid removal is not uncommon, as it’s often related to hormonal changes. In Ayurveda, these symptoms can be linked to an imbalance in the pitta dosha, which governs heat and transformation in the body. Here are some home remedies from a Siddha-Ayurvedic perspective that you might find helpful:

First, consider dietary changes to help balance pitta. Foods that are cooling and soothing can be beneficial. Incorporate more juicy fruits like watermelons, cucumbers, and oranges. Avoid spicy, oily, or fried foods as they might aggravate pitta, further increasing heat in the body.

Herbal teas can also play a role. Try sipping on chamomile or peppermint tea, both known for their cooling properties. If you can, also consider using Shatavari root, which is often recommended in Ayurveda for its cooling and hormone-regulating properties. You can take Shatavari in powder form, mixing half a teaspoon with warm water daily.

Regular self-massage (abhyanga) with coconut oil will help in cooling pitta. Do this in the morning before showering. Coconut oil naturally soothes and pacifies pitta, and the gentle massage enhances circulation, bringing relief.

Breathing exercises are another valuable tool. Practice Sheetali Pranayama, which involves cooling breath. Breathing steadily through a curled tongue can decrease bodily heat instantly. Aim for ten minutes of this practice once or twice a day.

Ensure proper hydration as dehydration can worsen hot flushes. Drink plenty of water throughout the day, prefer it room-temperature and avoid icy drinks, which can disturb agni.

These remedies should help manage the symptoms, but it’s important to monitor your condition. If the hot flushes persist or worsen, or if you experience other symptoms, consult a healthcare provider to rule out any complications. Being vigilant about your health and seeking professional advice when needed is paramount.
