Your routine reflects strong commitment to health and well-being. The morning walk for an hour and ten minutes is excellent for maintaining cardiovascular health and mental freshness, especially at 76. Do continue this daily practice, as it enhances circulation and reduces stiffness.

A few points to consider for improvement: Consuming lukewarm water first thing in the morning is beneficial for stimulating digestion and cleansing the system, and it’s great to do this. Since you’re avoiding water during meals, it’s essential to ensure the food isn’t dry or spicy which can be harsh on digestion, as water aids in breaking down food smoothly.

Regarding diet, focus on fresh, warm, and cooked meals rather than raw or cold foods, as these can strain your digestive agni, especially in the Vata phase of life. Include seasonal fruits and vegetables to strengthen immunity. Hydration seems optimal, but ensure you are not drinking excessive amounts at once, sip warm water throughout the day instead for maintaining fluid balance.

Your sleep schedule is good for balancing your doshas, especially considering the importance of rest in Vata maintaining years. However, if you ever feel fatigued in the midday, consider a short nap. This can help but ensure it’s not more than 20-30 minutes to prevent kapha imbalance.

Bhramari Pranayama is excellent for calming the mind and improving lung capacity as you practice both morning and night. Keep up with this pranayama. Surrounding yourself with peaceful environment while practicing can amplify its effects.

Since you live in Texas, a dry state, applying a little sesame or coconut oil to your skin regularly can be good for keeping it nourished, countering dryness, and calming vata.

Lastly, regular checkups are advisable every year to monitor essential markers like blood pressure, cholesterol, and sugar levels for preventive health. You’re on the right track, just fine-tune your habits for balanced health!

Your routine certainly shows a commendable dedication to maintaining health. However, a few adjustments could possibly enhance your well-being, particularly from the perspective of Ayurveda, which focuses on harmonizing the body’s doshas—vata, pitta, and kapha. At 76, balancing vata is crucial, as its increase can contribute to dryness, restlessness, and issues with digestion.

Firstly, the routine regarding water consumption is generally sound. Continue to start your day with water, but consider sipping warm water with a squeeze of lemon, which can aid digestion and hydrate your body more efficiently. Drinking warm water throughout the day instead of cold may also support your agni (digestive fire).

For your diet, being vegetarian is definitely supportive of maintaining a light and balanced diet, but ensure you are getting adequate proteins and healthy fats to maintain strength and vitality. Consider including cooked seasonal vegetables, whole grains, soaked nuts, and seeds to help nourish the sapta dhatus (tissue systems).

Regarding pranayama, Bhramari is helpful, yet adding Nadi Shodhana (alternate nostril breathing) can be beneficial for balancing vata and calming the mind. Practicing 10 minutes in the morning and evening could be advantageous.

Your walking routine is excellent, maintaining mobility and supporting circulation. However, if possible, walking in nature might provide additional benefits by grounding vata and reducing stress.

Lastly, while daily life in Texas may not align with traditional Ayurvedic routines around waking and sleeping, your consistent bedtime is beneficial. It may help to slightly adjust your rest to align more closely with natural circadian rhythms, rising around dawn.

Your mindful approach to health at 76 is inspiring. Stay attentive to your body’s signals and responsive to its needs, adjusting routines as your energy dictates.
