After gallbladder removal, digestive efficiency can be altered and this can impact bone health due to possible malabsorption of key nutrients. To address osteoporosis, and strengthen bones, focusing on diet and lifestyle modifications aligned with Ayurveda could be beneficial.
Start by incorporating sesame seeds into your diet, as they are rich in calcium which is essential for bone health. You might want to take a teaspoon of sesame seed powder mixed in a glass of warm milk daily in the morning. Milk, why it should be fresh and full-fat, enhances calcium absorption, considering your age and constitutional needs.
Inclusion of Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is advised. This adaptogenic herb is renowned in Ayurveda for its rejuvenative properties. A common preparation could involve mixing half a teaspoon of Ashwagandha powder with warm milk, consuming it before bedtime.
The digestive strength or ‘Agni’ is paramount. Include spices like cumin, fennel, ginger, and coriander in your meals, as they stimulate the digestive fire and facilitate the absorption of nutrients. Chyawanprash, a herbal jam, taken a tablespoon daily can also support digestion and overall strength.
Regular physical activity is crucial, weight-bearing exercises can effectively support bone density. Try gentle yoga poses, under guidance, which focus on balance and strength.
Avoid heavy, oily, and overly spicy foods that might exacerbate Vata dosha, which often leads to conditions like osteoporosis. Stay hydrated but avoid excessive consumption of cold water or cold beverages.
Stress reduction through pranayama and meditation can help in maintaining overall health balance, influencing absorption and function of bodily tissues.
If any herbal or dietary supplement is considered, it’s important to consult with healthcare provider, making sure they don’t interact with any existing medications or conditions.
