Ayurveda can offer some support, however, it’s important to understand that structural damage, especially like the frontal lobe condition you mention, isn’t something Ayurveda can repair in the sense that Western medicine might. Nonetheless, Ayurveda aims to balance the body and mind through diet, lifestyle changes, and herbal supplements, potentially helping to manage some symptoms. Given your Pitta prakriti, the goal will be to balance Pitta, which is often associated with excessive mental activity and digestive issues.
Begin with dietary considerations. Eating cooling and calming foods can help balance Pitta. Incorporate foods like cucumber, watermelon, coconut, and herbs such as coriander and fennel into your meals. Avoid spicy, sour, fried and greasy foods as they can aggravate Pitta. Also, ensure regular meal times to stabilize your digestion, supporting your weak liver and stomach.
For the thoughts racing through your mind, try Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri). Brahmi is revered in Ayurveda for enhancing cognitive functioning and calming the mind. You might take Brahmi powder or tablets, usually in the morning and evening, with warm water or milk. Consult with a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner for dosage tailored to your needs.
Shirodhara, an Ayurvedic therapy where warm oils are poured over the forehead, can deeply calm the mind and reduce stress. This, alongside regular meditation or pranayama, can help the racing thoughts and improve mental focus. Nadi Shodhana (alternate nostril breathing) may stabilize mind and promote mental clarity.
Strengthening Agni, or digestive fire, is crucial for liver and stomach health. Try Triphala at bedtime, which gently detoxifies while promoting digestion. Always consider other current medications to avoid interferences. Remember, it’s important to work with both a healthcare provider and an Ayurvedic practitioner to craft a balanced approach that respects both traditional practices and medical advice.
