I, F28, have been suffering from the stomach issues for 4 years now . I have consulted allopathic doctors multiple time and I get relief for some time but then the problem returns and I have to regularly take ppis. The doctor now wants me to get Endoscopy done now because he suspects H Pylori might be causing problems. But I am terrified of this invasive procedure. My symptoms include Gas that rises upto my chest and causes palpitations, acidity and reflux that make my esophagus inflammation. Is it possible heal completely with Ayurveda without going for endoscopy even if H Pylori is present?

Much thanks ma’am for the response. I will try and follow the things you mentioned.

Ayurveda can offer supportive strategies that may help manage and alleviate your stomach issues, potentially addressing some of the root causes. However, it is crucial to prioritize your immediate health needs and be open to combined treatments when necessary. If you suspect H. Pylori infection, it is better to confirm this through medical procedures such as endoscopy, as some interventions may require immediate conventional medical treatment.

In the Ayurvedic paradigm, your symptoms suggest an imbalance within the Pitta dosha, which governs the digestive process. Here are some strategies you could consider:

First, your diet plays an essential role in managing these symptoms. Consuming cooling, light and non-spicy foods can help balance Pitta. Include items like cucumber, coriander, zucchini, and coconut water in your daily meals. Steer clear of fried, oily, and spicy foods that can aggravate heat in the stomach.

Second, herbal preparations such as Amla (Indian Gooseberry) and licorice can be soothing. Amla is high in Vitamin C and anti-inflammatory, while licorice protects the gastric lining. You might take these as supplements, but check dosage and drug interactions with a qualified practitioner.

Third, lifestyle changes further contribute to balance. Stress can exacerbate Pitta disorders, so integrating practices like yoga, meditation, or simple breathing exercises can help reduce it. Regularity in meals, maintaining an early dinner time, and adequate rest are important for digestive health.

While Ayurveda can provide symptomatic relief and improve overall digestion, if H. Pylori is confirmed, integrating Ayurveda alongside conventional treatment may offer the most comprehensive approach. For persistent or severe symptoms, immediate consultation with a healthcare provider is advisable. Trying to fully self-manage H. Pylori infection could delay necessary interventions that could prevent complications.
