Chronic urticaria and breathlessness can sometimes share common underlying factors like stress, allergens, or imbalance in the body’s doshas, particularly the Vata and Pitta doshas. Let’s try to address the root issues from a Siddha-Ayurvedic perspective.
Firstly, consider incorporating herbs like Haridra (Turmeric) and Neem which are known for their anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic properties. Turmeric can be taken as a warm milk decoction daily, about half a teaspoon in a glass of warm cow’s milk can help stabilize your immune response. Neem can be consumed in the form of capsules or powder, one teaspoon with warm water twice a day.
For managing Vata imbalance, especially because breathlessness might be related to stress or airway irritation, incorporating daily practices like Pranayama (breath regulation practices) can also be beneficial. A simple technique is Alternate Nostril Breathing, which you can practice in the morning before meals, for about 10 minutes. This helps in calming the nervous system.
Diet is crucial here, so try to incorporate more warm, cooked, and easy-to-digest foods, favoring those that are less likely to aggravate Vata-Pitta, such as cooked vegetables, whole grains like rice and barley, and moong dal. Avoid very spicy, salty, or sour foods as they might exacerbate Pitta and trigger symptoms.
Outer applications of a paste made from sandalwood and rose water on rash-prone areas can help provide cooling relief to the skin.
However, since breathlessness can sometimes indicate serious issues, don’t delay consulting a health professional if it worsens suddenly or persists despite lifestyle changes. Make sure these practices are integrated into your daily routine to support holistic healing effectively.
