Managing SIBO and Histamine Intolerance Symptoms - #51630

Client_e3ceb4

I have been diagnosed with hydrogen SIBO. I have taken conventional antibiotics and herbal antibiotics. I now have mouth and lip tingling that I think is histamine intolerance. I started taking a DAO supplement before meals. I have insomnia and anxiety from this also. I stopped all of the herbal supplements to see if they were causing the tingling. It has improved somewhat. I am trying to eat low fodmat and low histamine. I am not sure what else I can do.

–SIBO can sometimes persist even after antibiotics, especially if gut motility is slow. In addition to treatment, some patients benefit from medications that improve intestinal movement, a temporary low-histamine diet, and supplements that support histamine breakdown. Because histamine can affect the nervous system, it may also contribute to insomnia and anxiety. —Rx : Kutajghan Vati – 2 tab BD after meals × 4 weeks Bilwadi Churna – 3 g BD with lukewarm water before meals Avipattikar Churna – 3 g HS with warm water Takra (buttermilk) with roasted Jeera + Saindhav – after lunch daily ----Diet Advice (Pathya): Light, warm, freshly cooked food Moong dal khichdi, rice gruel, cooked vegetables Avoid fermented foods, leftovers, curd at night, very spicy/oily food —Lifestyle: Early dinner, 12-hour overnight fasting Gentle walk after meals Stress reduction, regular sleep schedule —Follow-up: 2–3 weeks

✓Continue strict low-histamine + low-FODMAP diet Safe foods right now: fresh chicken/turkey/fish (cooked fresh), white rice, peeled zucchini/cucumber/carrot (boiled), olive oil, fresh herbs (parsley/basil), salt. Avoid all aged/fermented (vinegar, soy, cheese, cured meat), spinach, tomato, citrus, strawberry, banana, nuts, chocolate, leftovers >12 h. ✓DAO supplement Continue before every meal (good choice) = aim for high-potency DAO (e.g., Seeking Health or Umbrellux). Add Quercetin 500 mg twice daily (natural mast-cell stabilizer, reduces histamine release & tingling) = very helpful here. ✓Support sleep & anxiety Magnesium glycinate 200–400 mg 1–2 h before bed (calms nerves, reduces anxiety & histamine response) L-theanine 100–200 mg at night (promotes calm without sedation) Tart cherry juice 100–150 ml 1–2 h before bed (natural melatonin source, safe & gentle) ✓Gut healing / anti-inflammatory (gentle, low-histamine) Slippery elm powder 1 tsp in warm water 1–2×/day (soothes gut lining without feeding bacteria) Bone broth (homemade, fresh, low-histamine = chicken only) 150–200 ml/day if tolerated (collagen for mucosa repair) ✓Lifestyle & quick wins No new supplements/herbs for 4 weeks = let system settle Elevate head during sleep (2 pillows or wedge) = reduces reflux & histamine-related insomnia 10 min legs-up-the-wall pose before bed (calms vagus nerve, lowers anxiety) No eating 3–4 h before bed Regards Dr Gursimran Jeet Singh MD Panchakarma
