2 months ago, in March I went to doctor, as my urine was yellow, my appetite became too low, I don't want to eat anything, doctor did test for LFT and find slightly increase in bilirubin 4.2 and also I did USG test and in result gall bladder edema was found, he explained me this is the jaundice symptoms, so he gave me medicine of liver and antibiotics for 5 days, after 5days the bilirubin drop from 4.2 to 0.9 but my urine was still yellow, then doctor gave me liver supporting medicine for 20 days, after 20 days I done LFT test, then the bilirubin goes from 0.9 to 2.2, so after 20 days of medicine my bilirubin is still high and my urine is still yellow Then I go to another doctor (gastrologist) and I informed my condition to him, he assumed it can be dengue rather than jaundice, as in dengue gall bladder edema occurs, So he gave me 10 days medicine of allergy as well as b12 After 10 days, no significant change at all, my urine is still yellow

▪︎What you are experiencing aligns closely with a condition known as Kamala (which encompasses jaundice and liver disorders). Ayurveda views this not just as a liver issue, but as a severe imbalance of Pitta dosha (the fire and metabolic element) overheating the liver and blood (Rakta dhatu). When Pitta overflows, it tints the urine, skin, and eyes yellow and severely dampens your Agni (digestive fire), which explains your total loss of appetite. The fact that your bilirubin dropped and then bounced back up suggests that while the strong medications cleared the acute phase, the deeper root cause—the internal heat and liver vulnerability—wasn’t fully resolved. The gallbladder edema (swelling) also points to localized inflammation and fluid stagnation, which Ayurveda treats by cooling the liver and clearing channels. To help bring your Pitta back into balance, Ayurveda emphasizes a strictly cooling, bland diet. You’ll want to completely avoid spicy, oily, sour (like lemons or vinegar), and fermented foods, as these act like fuel to the Pitta fire. Instead, focus on easy-to-digest, cooling foods like white rice, mung dal, bottle gourd , and plenty of coconut water. In terms of traditional herbal support, Ayurvedic practitioners frequently turn to powerful liver-protective and cooling herbs Yakrit-pleeha rasayana . Herbs like Phyllanthus niruri, Katuki and Kalmegh are highly regarded for their ability to naturally lower bilirubin, reduce gallbladder inflammation, and restore your appetite by stimulating digestive juices without overheating the system. Drinking water infused with coriander seeds or eating fresh sugarcane juice (from a hygienic source) are also traditional ways to flush out excess bile and clear the yellow tint from your urine. ▪︎Arogyavardhini Vati or Bhumi Amla juice, tailored to your exact condition. Please continue to keep an eye out for any “red flag” symptoms like extreme fatigue, severe abdominal pain, vomiting, or clay-colored stools, which require immediate medical attention. To help me give more relevant insights, what are your latest LFT results (like SGOT/SGPT)? Sharing any other current symptoms, or if your appetite has improved at all, would also be helpful.

My appetite problem and other problems (body itching, weakness) was solved during 1st week of treatment, the consistent problem is only yellow urine(light colour not dark tea coloured), my skin and eye colour are/was not yellow. And I had no fever at all. I don’t know it was jaundice or something else. In my latest report, LFT test, total bilirubin was in 1.9, conjugated 0.8 and unconjugated 1.1, sgot and sgpt was in normal range In CBC report, everything was in normal range (WBC, haemoglobin, platelets) And USG result , the gall bladder wall thickness is 3.5mm, improved (in previous one the thickness was 7.5mm) and I had no pain at abdominal region at all. After reviewing my reports and symptoms, do you think the main cause of my persistent yellow urine is still a liver/gallbladder issue, or could it be due to other factors. I have already taken liver medicines for about 40 days and another doctor treated me for a possible viral illness/dengue for 10 days. Right now, my main remaining symptom is yellow urine and itching sometimes I also want to mention that for the last few weeks/months I’ve had poor sleep and stress. My mind stays active and I find it difficult to fall asleep properly. I keep thinking about my health symptoms repeatedly. Could poor sleep, stress, or anxiety be contributing to my symptoms or making me notice them more?

Your symptoms closely align with a mild imbalance of Pitta Dosha (the fire and metabolic element) along with a slight disturbance in Rakta Dhatu (blood tissue). When Pitta increases, it naturally imparts a yellow color to bodily fluids like urine, even without causing full-blown Kamala (jaundice) or yellowing of the eyes and skin. The fact that your gallbladder wall thickness has significantly improved (from 7.5mm down to 3.5mm) and your liver enzymes (SGOT/SGPT) are normal shows that your body’s metabolic fire (Agni) is successfully clearing the deep-seated inflammation. The lingering light yellow urine and occasional itching simply indicate that a small amount of residual Pitta heat is still passing through your system as it completely clears out. Your stress, poor sleep, and constant worry about your health are playing a major role right now. In Ayurveda, overthinking and anxiety aggravate Vata Dosha (the air and nervous system element). An elevated Vata disrupts your sleep and acts like a fan to a flame it heightens your nervous system’s sensitivity, making you hyper-aware of every minor bodily sensation and causing you to notice the itching much more intensely. Furthermore, deep, restful sleep is when the liver naturally detoxifies and cools down; poor sleep deprives your body of this natural cooling phase, which can prolong that mild Pitta warmth and keep your urine looking yellow. To help your body cross the finish line, focus on calming both Pitta and Vata through simple daily habits. Sip on cooling drinks like coriander seed water or coconut water during the day, and eat easily digestible, non-spicy foods to keep your liver happy. To settle your mind and invite better sleep, try massaging a few drops of warm sesame oil or Brahmi oil onto your soles and scalp before bed. Your body has already made fantastic progress trust its healing process, give your mind a gentle break, and allow the remaining residual heat to dissipate naturally.

Based on the history you have provided, your bilirubin level initially improved from 4.2 mg/dL to 0.9 mg/dL, but later increased again to 2.2 mg/dL, and you continue to have persistent yellow urine. This suggests that the underlying cause may not have been fully resolved and requires further evaluation rather than relying solely on liver-supportive medicines. From an Ayurvedic perspective, such symptoms are commonly associated with Yakrit Dushti (liver dysfunction) and aggravation of Pitta Dosha, which can manifest as yellow discoloration of urine, reduced appetite, fatigue, and digestive disturbances. The recurrence of elevated bilirubin indicates that the liver and biliary system may still be under stress. Ayurvedic Recommendations Follow a Pitta-pacifying diet: Prefer light, freshly cooked foods. Include boiled vegetables, bottle gourd, ridge gourd, moong dal, and rice. Maintain adequate hydration with water and coconut water if suitable. Avoid: Oily, fried, spicy, and junk foods. Alcohol, smoking, and unnecessary medications. Excess tea, coffee, and carbonated beverages. Ensure proper rest and avoid excessive physical exertion. Rx 1. Bhumi Amla (Phyllanthus niruri)juice - 30 ml twice a day 2.Arogyavardhini Vati- 2 tab twice a day after meal 3. Punarnava Mandoor tab - 2 tab twice a day after meal 4.Guduchi tab - 2 tab twice a day after meal Important Advice Since your bilirubin has risen again after initial improvement, I would strongly recommend: Repeat Liver Function Test (LFT). Complete Blood Count (CBC). Viral hepatitis screening (if not already done). In summary: Focus on a strict Pitta-pacifying diet, maintain hydration, avoid liver-irritating foods and substances, and undergo repeat investigations. Ayurveda can provide supportive liver care, but identifying the underlying cause of the recurrent bilirubin elevation is essential for long-term recovery

From an Ayurvedic perspective, your recovery appears to be progressing well. The improvement in appetite, weakness, itching, bilirubin levels, and gallbladder wall thickness suggests that the underlying Pitta imbalance affecting the liver and biliary system has significantly reduced. At present, the persistence of light-yellow urine alone, in the absence of jaundice, abdominal pain, fever, or abnormal liver enzymes, is not strongly suggestive of active liver or gallbladder disease. Mild residual Pitta aggravation, hydration status, and factors such as poor sleep, mental stress, and excessive health-related worry (Chinta) may be contributing to your symptoms or making you more aware of them. Ayurvedically, emphasis should now be placed on: Maintaining a Pitta-pacifying diet and lifestyle. Ensuring adequate hydration. Improving sleep quality. Managing stress and overthinking through relaxation practices, meditation, or pranayama. Overall, your clinical improvement and investigations are reassuring, and the current picture is more consistent with a recovering state rather than ongoing significant liver pathology.

••Namaste. I understand this must be incredibly frustrating and exhausting for you. Dealing with persistent yellow urine, a loss of appetite, and fluctuating bilirubin levels for two months—without getting clear answers—is deeply draining. From the perspective of Ayurveda, what you are experiencing aligns closely with a condition called Kamala (which correlates with jaundice and hepatic/biliary disorders). In Ayurveda, this is primarily a disturbance of the Pitta Dosha, specifically the subtype Ranjaka Pitta (which resides in the liver and spleen and governs the color of blood and bile). Why is the Bilirubin Fluctuating? The temporary drop to 0.9 was likely due to the initial clearance of acute inflammation by the antibiotics, but because the root Agni (digestive fire) wasn’t restored and the liver tissue (Yakrit) wasn’t fully rejuvenated, the bilirubin bounced back up to 2.2 once the strong medicines stopped. Whether triggered by a viral underlying cause (like a post-viral/dengue hepatic effect) or primary biliary sluggishness, the Ayurvedic approach focuses on cooling the Pitta, clearing the channel blockages, and reviving your appetite. ••Ayurvedic Line of Treatment To address this effectively, we focus on Mridu Virechana (gentle purgation to flush excess bile), Deepana-Pachana (igniting digestive fire), and Yakrit-Rakshana (liver protection). 1. Classical Ayurvedic Herbs (Consult an Ayurvedic Practitioner for Dosages) ••Bhumyamalaki (Phyllanthus niruri): This is the ultimate liver-protecting herb in Ayurveda. It is scientifically and classically proven to reduce bilirubin levels, protect liver cells, and clear channel blockages. ••Katuki (Picrorhiza kurroa): A potent bitter herb that acts as a natural cholagogue, meaning it helps flush out excess bile from the gallbladder and liver, reducing both edema and yellow urine. ••Liv-52 or Rohitakarishta: Classical formulations that help regulate liver enzymes and gradually restore your lost appetite. 2. Dietary Changes (Ahara) to Cool Pitta Your liver is currently inflamed; eating heavy foods is like putting wet logs on a dying fire. ••What to Eat: Fresh pomegranate juice (excellent for the liver), sugarcane juice (hygienically prepared), bitter gourd (Karela), bottle gourd (Lauki), and boiled mung dal khichdi with a pinch of turmeric and cumin. ••What to Avoid Strictly: Deep-fried foods, heavy oils, spicy foods, refined flour (maida), fermented foods (like curd or idli), and excessive salt. 3. Home Remedies for Quick Relief ••Coriander Seed Water: Soak 1 tablespoon of coriander seeds in a cup of water overnight. Strain and drink it in the morning. Coriander is a natural coolant (Sheeta) that reduces Pitta and helps clear yellow urine. ••Raisin Water: Soak 10-15 black raisins overnight, mash them into the water in the morning, strain, and drink. It gently cleanses the liver. ••Important Note on Urine Color: Please keep in mind that if you are currently taking the Vitamin B12 supplements prescribed by your gastroenterologist, B-complex vitamins naturally turn urine a bright, neon-yellow color. This is harmless and happens as your body flushes out excess water-soluble vitamins. However, your elevated bilirubin (2.2) means the liver still needs targeted care.

1. Clinical Analysis of Your Current Symptoms Based on your LFT (Total Bilirubin: 1.9mg/dL), you have a mild residual hyperbilirubinemia. In Ayurveda, this stage is classic of a resolving Koshthashrita Kamala (liver/biliary tract-driven jaundice) transitioning into a subtle Dosha Dushti phase. Here is why your urine remains light yellow and why your mind is anxious: Why is the urine still yellow? ••The Ayurvedic View (Rakta-Pitta Vyadhi): Even though the acute inflammation in your gallbladder (Pitta Sthan) has subsided, your Yakrit (liver) and Pheeha (spleen) are still clearing the residual Udraka Pitta (excess bile pigments) from the Rakta Dhatu (blood tissue). Because your bowel movements and appetite have returned to normal, the Anulomana (downward clearance) of Pitta is happening properly, and the kidneys are simply filtering out the remaining excess circulating bilirubin. ••Modern View: A total bilirubin of 1.9mg/dL is just above the normal threshold (usually 1.2mg/dL). It is high enough for excess urobilinogen to color your urine a distinct light yellow, but low enough that it won’t cause Icterus (yellowing of the eyes or skin), which typically requires a bilirubin level above 2.5 mg/dL. Why is there occasional itching? ••Ayurvedic View: This is a classic presentation of Kandu caused by Alpa Pitta-Kapha Samsarga. When residual Pitta combines with subtle Kapha under the skin (Twacha), it causes transient itching. ••Modern View: Mild elevations in conjugated bilirubin (0.8mg/dl) can lead to a slight deposition of bile salts in the cutaneous tissues, triggering intermittent pruritus (itching), even without visible jaundice. Phase 1: Calming the Mind & Improving Sleep (Nidra Janana) ••Shiroabhyanga / Padabhyanga: Apply Ksheerabala Taila or Brahmi Taila to your scalp and the soles of your feet before sleep. This down-regulates Vata, induces deep sleep (Sushupti), and stops the cycle of health-related overthinking. ••Satvavajaya Chikitsa (Psychotherapy/Mindfulness): Dedicate 10–15 minutes to Pranayama (specifically Anulom Vilom and Bhramari) daily. This directly targets the Prana Vayu causing your restless nights. ••Internal Herbs: Classics like Ashwagandha, Brahmi, or Jatamansi (often formulated as Manasamitra Vatakam or Saraswatarishta) can be evaluated by your consulting physician to calm the central nervous system without putting a load on the liver. Phase 2: Clearing Residual Pitta (Urine & Itching) ••Mridu Virechana / Anulomana: To fully clear the 1.9 mg/dLbilirubin, a mild daily laxative/purgative that cleanses blood and bile is ideal. Avipattikar Churna (taken with lukewarm water at bedtime) or a mild dose of Trivrit Lehya can gently flush residual Pitta through the gut, immediately relieving the load on both the kidneys (reducing yellow urine) and the skin (stopping the itching). ••Cooling Blood Purifiers: Formulations containing Sariva (Hemidesmus indicus), Chandana, or Ushira are excellent. Sarivadyasava gently cleanses the Rakta Dhatu, clears skin itching, and acts as a mild natural diuretic to clear urine discoloration. Phase 3: Diet & Lifestyle Modifications (Ahara-Vihara) ••Hydration: Ensure adequate intake of water, but introduce cooling drinks like Mishri-Sushki Dhanyaka Udaka (coriander seed water soaked overnight with unrefined sugar). This cools the Mutravaha Srotas (urinary tract). ••Avoid: Strictly avoid late nights (Ratri Jagrana), as staying awake past 10:00 PM directly spike Pitta and Vata, worsening both your liver clearance and your anxiety. Avoid spicy, pungent, and deeply fried foods.

Your case needs proper medical evaluation rather than changing liver tonics repeatedly. Bilirubin initially improved from 4.2 to 0.9 but later increased again to 2.2, and persistent yellow urine for 2 months suggests the underlying cause may not be fully resolved. Possible causes include: • Viral hepatitis or post-viral liver inflammation • Gilbert’s syndrome (a benign bilirubin metabolism issue) • Persistent liver or bile duct dysfunction • Dehydration or concentrated urine • Less commonly, ongoing gall bladder or hemolytic issues I would advise repeating: • Complete LFT (including direct and indirect bilirubin) • CBC • Hepatitis profile (A, B, C, E as advised by your doctor) • Urine routine examination • Follow-up ultrasound if symptoms persist From an Ayurvedic perspective, liver support can be helpful, but first the exact cause should be identified. Until then: • Drink adequate water • Avoid alcohol, fried foods and excessive spices • Take light, easily digestible meals • Get proper rest If you still have poor appetite, weight loss, fever, itching, pale stools, or yellowing of the eyes, please follow up with the gastroenterologist promptly, as these findings need further investigation.
