My 10-Year-Old Daughter's Persistent Tummy Pain - #42166
Hi, my daughter of 10 years old has been suffering with tummy pain for the past 10 days. She indicates pain in the middle of her tummy and towards the left hand side of her tummy. She cries with pain. We went to the Dr here in UK and they discarded to be appendicitis. She has been taking painkillers but they don't seem to work. She complains about a sick taste in her mouth and an acid pain in her stomach. She hasn't been sick but feels nauseous. Would Amrit Kalash help a child of her age with her condition or should I try something else? Thank you, Luciana

When considering Ayurvedic treatments for your daughter’s symptoms, it’s important to first understand the underlying cause from a holistic perspective. The symptoms you describe—midsection and left-sided stomach pain, sour taste in the mouth, acid pain, and nausea—could suggest an imbalance possibly related to Pitta dosha. While Amrit Kalash is known for enhancing immunity and overall wellbeing, it’s not specifically tailored for acute digestive concerns like your daughter’s.
Firstly, consult with a pediatrician or a child specialist as her discomfort is persistent and involves such pronounced pain. Once any serious condition has been ruled out by a healthcare professional, we can consider dietary and lifestyle measures from an Ayurvedic perspective.
A few gentle interventions might be helpful after obtaining a green signal from her healthcare provider. Dietarily, focus on balancing the Pitta dosha through cooling, non-irritating foods. Encourage her intake of soothing, bland foods like rice gruel, boiled vegetables (e.g., zucchini, and sweet potatoes), and applesauce. Instead of painkillers, you might try a pinch of fennel seeds steeped in warm water to help soothe nausea and digestive distress; ensure she sips it only after checking with her doctor to avoid any reactions.
Meanwhile, focus on lifestyle adjustments: ensure she’s hydrated with lukewarm water and avoid cold or carbonated drinks. Make sure she’s eating at regular intervals, not skipping meals, and avoiding spicy, oily, and processed foods that might aggravate her symptoms.
While awaiting thorough examination results, be mindful that persistent pain or abnormal development needs immediate medical attention. If symptoms don’t improve or escalate, prioritize seeking urgent care to prevent potential health risks.
Thank you very much for your response. They have had clinical assessments and blood tests which are all normal but they have told us they have inflammation of their lymph nodes (mesenteric adenitis) and that only painkillers can help but I am giving up on these as they don’t help and they are still experiencing ongoing pain. I will try all what you mention. Thank you very much!
