Recurring Intestinal Worms and Incomplete Bowel Movements - #43339

I often get intestinal worms again and again. Even after taking Albendazole, the problem returns after a few days or a month. When I go to the toilet, the stool doesn’t pass completely in one go; I have to sit for a long time to finish. Please suggest some effective natural remedies that can permanently eliminate intestinal worms and also help ensure a complete bowel movement in one go

Your symptoms suggest persistent parasitic infections and an issue with bowel elimination, which might indicate an imbalance in your digestive system. In Ayurveda, these issues could be linked to imbalances in the ‘Vata’ and ‘Pitta’ doshas and a weakened ‘Agni’, the digestive fire. To address both intestinal worms and incomplete bowel movement, a holistic approach focusing on diet, lifestyle, and specific herbs can be beneficial.

Begin by incorporating bitter-tasting foods, which are known in Ayurveda to help combat worms. Neem (Azadirachta indica) leaves are particularly effective. You can chew fresh neem leaves or take them in capsule form, around 500mg per day. Do this for a week, then pause for a week, and repeat if necessary. Neem balances Pitta and Kapha and has anti-parasitic properties. Another useful remedy is Vidanga (Embelia ribes), known for its anti-parasitic effects. Take about 1-2 grams of Vidanga powder with warm water twice a day, ideally before meals.

To improve bowel movements, focus on hydrating yourself adequately — at least 8-10 glasses of water daily — and include fiber-rich foods. Psyllium husk (Isabgol) is excellent for promoting complete evacuation. Take 1-2 teaspoons of psyllium husk mixed in a glass of warm water an hour before bedtime. Additionally, Triphala is a renowned Ayurvedic formula for regulating bowels; consume 1 teaspoon of Triphala powder in warm water before bed.

Enhance your diet with warm, cooked meals and avoid cold, raw, and stale foods that aggravate Vata. Regularly incorporating vegetables like carrots, squash, and spinach can be helpful. Also, practicing yoga postures like Malasana (Garland Pose) and Pavanamuktasana (Wind-Relieving Pose) daily can help support a healthy digestion process.

Remember to be consistent with these natural remedies for at least 2-3 months, as the holistic approach in Ayurveda requires time and discipline. However, if symptoms persist or worsen, consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner or a healthcare professional for personalized guidance.
