Concerns about Throat Pain and H. Pylori Treatment - #43786
Good morning. I wa suffering from throat pain and bloating since 3 months. Last 2 weeks before I diagnosed with h. Pylori with level of 45. I started the antibiotics course but took only for 2 days and left in between because it was too strong. Now I am on homeopathic treatment from 1 week but still not fine, feeling pain, dryness in throat, burps while drinking water. Is the homeopathic treatment will cure h. Pylori.

Doctors' responses
The situation you’ve described suggests a persistent H. pylori infection, which can indeed lead to symptoms such as throat discomfort, bloating, and excessive burping. While homeopathy can be beneficial for various health issues, there is limited scientific evidence supporting its effectiveness in treating H. pylori infection. Persistent H. pylori can lead to more serious gastrointestinal issues if not effectively treated, so professional medical intervention is crucial.
In ayurvedic terms, your symptoms of throat dryness and pain, along with bloating, could be suggestive of an imbalance in the Vata and Pitta doshas. Vata is involved in movement and dryness, while Pitta governs digestion. For immediate relief and support of your digestive health, you might consider the following Ayurveda-inspired approaches:
1. Dietary Adjustments: Avoid foods that can aggravate Pitta like spicy, oily, or overly processed foods. Favor cooling and soothing foods such as cucumber, melons, and coconut water. These help to pacify Pitta and can ease throat dryness.
2. Herbal Remedies: Licorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra) is known to soothe the throat. Proper dosage and form matter—consider a light tea made with licorice boiled in water, and drink warm.
3. Agni Strengthening: Ginger tea can help stimulate the digestive fire (Agni) without aggravating Pitta. A small piece of ginger with a little salt before meals can also aid digestion.
4. Regular Cumin Water: After meals drink cumin seeds boiled in water. This can reduce bloating and promote a calm digestive process.
5. Lifestyle Considerations: Incorporate gentle yoga or pranayama to reduce stress and balance Vata dosha.
Remember, it is typically necessary to complete a course of antibiotics once started, for gastric complications and to fully eradicate the H. pylori bacteria. Consulting a gastroenterologist to assess further antibiotic treatment and monitor is critical in this case.
