Given that you’ve been managing left knee pain related to osteoarthritis for some time, it’s crucial to approach it comprehensively. While Ashwagandha and Trayodashak Guggul are beneficial, especially for strengthening and supporting the joints, let’s enhance your approach.
Since osteoarthritis often involves the Vata dosha, balancing this dosha will be helpful. Ensure your daily routine incorporates warmth—both in diet and lifestyle. Warm, cooked meals like soups, stews, and khichdi stabilize Vata. Add spices like ginger, cumin, turmeric, and asafoetida while cooking, improving digestion and reducing inflammation.
Externally applying warm oil can help, and since you’re already doing daily masish, that’s great. Continue with sesame oil; it’s warming and nourishes the tissues. Ensure the oil is heated to a comfortably warm temperature before application, massage it gently in circular motions, especially around the knee joint.
Include Nidra (adequate rest) as it’s pivotal for Vata balance. Aim for consistent sleep cycles. If stress exacerbates your symptoms, practice pranayama like Nadi Shodhana or Anulom Vilom daily for about 10-15 minutes.
Ayurveda suggests Panchakarma therapy for joint pain. You might consider consulting a local practicioner about Vasti or Basti treatment. This enema therapy is known for lubricating and nourishing the body tissue.
Hydration is essential, consume warm or lukewarm water. Avoiding cold and raw foods helps maintain the digestive fire or Agni, preventing accumulation of toxins (Ama) in the system.
It would be wise to have a professional Ayurvedic consultation for personalized Panchakarma suggestions, they require expert supervision. Alongside these, staying consistent with your daily exercise routine is vital. Gentle, low-impact exercises like walking, swimming, or specific yoga asanas for joint mobility can be beneficial.
However, always check with your healthcare provider before starting new treatments or exercises, especially since osteoarthritis symptoms can vary significantly between individuals. Addressing knee pain needs carefull attention, so make adjustments that fit well with your current lifestyle and health condition.
