Stop the Phalatrikadi Kwatha for now. Loose stools with stomach pain mean it’s too strong for your Vata. -Rx: 1)Phalatrikadi Kwatha – Stop temporarily 2)Punarnava Kashaya / Bilwa Churna – ½ tsp with warm water, 2× daily (for loose motions & Vata support) 3)Trikatu Churna – ¼ tsp with warm water after meals (optional, to improve digestion) -Pathya (Dietary Advice): Warm, cooked, easily digestible foods (khichdi, moong dal, rice) Avoid cold, raw, oily, or heavy foods Drink warm water or herbal teas (ginger, cumin, fennel) -Follow-up: 3–5 days or sooner if symptoms worsen Note: Resume Phalatrikadi Kwatha only after consulting your doctor, possibly at a reduced dose or with Vata-pacifying herbs.

HELLO, Phalatrikadi kwatha is an herbal decoction commonly prescribed in Ayurveda for digestive issues, rejuvenation, and chronic metabolic or vata related disorders. It is generally considered vata pacifying sometimes balancing pitta depending on the formulation COMMON SIDE EFFECTS -If taken in excess, or if the person has a sensitive digestion, it can cause loose stools, bloating or mild stomach discomfort, because decoctions are often liquid, light, and potent YOUR CURRENT SYMPTOMS -loose stools 2-4 /day -stomach pain -vata constitution, sometimes pitta dominating -Loose stools + stomach pain indicate aggravation of vata and or pitta in the digestive tract (GIT) -Vata types with occassional pitta dominanace are particularly sensitive to strong decoctions or an formulation that is light , drying, or slightly heating -the medicine may be too strong or the dosage too high for your current digestive strength AYURVEDIC APPROACH 1) PAUSE OR REDUCE -It is recommended to continue at the same dose while experiencing loose stools and pain -continuing could worsen vata-pitta imbalance, leading to weakness, dehydration, or further digestive upset 2) MODIFY DOSAGE/FORM -reduce the amount (e.g half dose) -take it after food instead of on an empty stomach -sometimes mixing with warm water or a little jaggery helps reduce vata aggravation 3) DIET -eat light, warm, easy to digest food= khichdi, rice gruel, cooked vegetables -avoid cold, raw, oily, or very spicy foods that can aggravate loose stools -warm herbal teas (like ginger, cumin, fennel) can soothe digestion 4) HYDRATION -drink warm water, coconut water, or herbal decoction to prevent dehydration WARNING SIGNS TO SEEK URGENT CARE -more than 6 loose stools/day -severe abdominal pain, vomiting, or fever -blood in stools or persistent dehydration FOR DIGESTIVE PROBLEM 1) TRIPHALA CHURNA= 1/2 tsp with warm water at bedtime 2) Cumin, coriander, fennel tea= 1 cup, 2-3 times/day 3) Hing= pinch in warm water or ghee with food if bloaitng LIFESTYLE ADJUSTMENT -REST= avoid heavy activity during diarrhea -WARMTH= keep abdomen warm, avoid cold exposure -gentle abdominal massage =clockwise with warm sesame oil to calm vata REINTRODUCING PHALATRIKADI KASHAYA Once stools normalize (1-2 formed stools/day) -start at 1/2 the original dose, after meals, with warm water -take once daily intially , not empty stomach -monitor= if stools stay normal, gradually increase to fully dose over 3-4 days -If loose stools return-> stop again and consult your doctor do follow hope this might be helpful thank you Dr. Maitri Acharya

What you can do - Do not continue if symptoms persist — loose stools and pain indicate intolerance. - Discuss with your physician about reducing the dose (e.g., half quantity) or switching to a gentler formulation. - Alternative options for Vata-Pitta balance and mild detox: - Avipattikar Churna (for acidity, mild laxative). - Triphala Churna (gentle bowel regulation). - Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia) or Neem (for Pitta detox without strong purgation).

Phalatrikadi kwatha has mild cleansing and pitta reducing action. If you are getting 2–4 loose stools with stomach pain, it means medicine may be too strong for your body now. You can reduce dose or stop temporarily. Take it after food instead of empty stomach. Drink warm water or buttermilk to settle stomach.

Hello Thanks for being so open about what’s going on. It’s really important stuff, and we should definitely take a look. YOUR CONCERN – Your Prakriti: Mostly Vata, bit of Pitta – You’re taking: Phalatrikadi Kwath (a type of herbal tea) – Since starting, you’ve had: – Loose stool (2-4 times) - Tummy ache - Cramps - Feeling weak HOW AYURVEDA SEES IT Phalatrikadi Kwath is usually: – Good at calming Pitta – Detoxifying – Cleans liver and blood – Acts as a laxative For someone who’s mainly Vata, it might: – Overdo it with the intestines – Give you cramps – Cause the runs – Make you feel dry So, it looks like you’re not really healing. It’s more like your system is getting irritated. SHOULD YOU KEEP GOING? No Don’t keep taking it like this. Loose Stool plus pain means: – Your Vata is getting worse – It’s bugging your stomach lining – It’ll weaken your digestion if you keep it up Ayurveda’s not about forcing detox on Vata types WHAT’S A BETTER PLAN? What you need is: – Gentle help for your liver – Protection for your gut – Something to balance Vata INTERNAL MEDICATION 1. Guduchi 1 capsule, twice a day 2. Triphala Half a teaspoon at night 3. Avipattikar Churna (if you’re getting acid) Half a teaspoon after dinner These will clean you out, but without the loose motion WHAT TO DO RIGHT NOW (to ease symptoms) For the next few days: – Eat rice porridge – Have moong dal – Sip on warm water – Skip spicy, sour, and fried stuff Give nutmeg pinch in warm milk at night (to stop loose motion). TO SUM IT UP Phalatrikadi Kwath, as it is, isn’t right for your Vata body. Healing should feel: – Nice and comfy – Nourishing – Slow and steady Good on you for asking! Warm Regards Dr. Snehal Vidhate

Hello dear, As you are a vata dominant - phalatrikati krwath may not suit you- as it can suit mainly to Pitta dominant diseases or pitta , pitta-kaphaj persons. If you are constantly having loose stools with stomach pain- its not a healthy sign 1. Please stop phalatrikadi kwata 2. If loose motions still persist- please have -. Laghusushekhar ras 2-0-2 before meals twice a day. -. Sanjeevani vati 1-0-1 after meals twice a day for 3-5 days. Continue loose motions can make you weak, can lower your blood pressure. If you are plannning to restart phalatrikati kwata please take in a less amount or half the dose than before . For reducing your vata- DONT- late night sleeping, having fermented products or packaged meals. Dos- sleep early, have balanced meals, apply ghee/ til tel on your belly button and add ghee to your meals . I hope you got your ans .

✅ What to do - Do not continue in the same dose if you are getting pain and 2–4 loose stools daily. - Stop for now and inform your Ayurvedic doctor about the reaction. - Sometimes doctors reduce the dose (½ cup instead of full), or shift to Triphala churna in small dose (¼–½ tsp at night) which is gentler. - If detox is needed, they may combine with Bilva, Kutaj, or Musta to balance loose stools.

Based on what you are describing you should not continue the phalatrikadi kwatha in the same dose right now Loose stools with abdominal pain clearly indicate that your digestion is not tolerating it especially when vata is dominant and pitta is also getting aggravated Phalatrikadi kwatha is strong cleansing and pitta reducing in nature and in vata dominant people it can easily cause excessive bowel movements cramps and weakness Two to four loose stools with pain means it is acting more like a purgative for you rather than a balancing medicine For now it is better to stop it temporarily and allow the gut to settle Continuing despite these symptoms can further aggravate vata and lead to fatigue dryness anxiety and worsening digestion Once stools normalize the medicine can be reconsidered in a much smaller dose or in a modified form like reduced quantity increased dilution taken only once daily after food or replaced with a gentler formulation more suitable for vata dominant constitution Always remember any medicine causing pain loose stools or weakness is a sign to pause and reassess not to push through Please inform your doctor about this reaction so the treatment can be adjusted according to your prakriti and current digestive strength

Stop Phalatrikadi Kwath immediately It is very strong purgative and Pitta-reducing ,in Vata-dominant people it aggravates dryness, creates more Vata imbalance, loose motions, cramping and stomach pain. Your symptoms are classic over-purgation side effect – do not continue. ✓What to do now Stop the kwath today – no need to taper. Take warm rice kanji or moong dal water + pinch rock salt for next 2–3 days (soothes gut, stops loose motions). Kamadhudha Ras – 250 mg twice daily with cold water (cools stomach pain & burning) Bilvadi Churna – 3 gm + warm water twice daily (stops loose motions, heals gut lining) Shatavari Kalpa – 5 gm night with warm water (nourishes & balances Vata-Pitta gently) ✓Diet for next 7 days Only: thin moong khichdi + ghee, pomegranate, boiled apple/pear, coconut water Avoid: spicy, sour, raw, heavy, cold anything ✓After 7–10 days (once stool normal & pain gone) Restart very mild Pitta-pacifying kwath if needed: Chandanasava or Usheerasava (much gentler than Phalatrikadi) Or stick to Shatavari + Bilvadi for long-term balance.
