Managing Kapha, Vata, and Pitta Imbalances in Winter - #50735

Client_fa5e9f
$3.51

Hi, if you are mostly kapha, but have dryness around the mouth and legs in winter (vata imbalance), and eczema in winter on hands (pitta imbalance), and can’t get up in the mornings at all, despite going to bed early (to help liver function properly), and irregular digestion, burping, lots of air, what oils do I use for dryness, but not overdo it for kapha stickiness, as I have a lot of clear phlegm in the damp northeast (this doesn’t happen when I’m in drier climates). And I’m looking for digestive teas to help with the imbalances, fennel might be a great aid. Tongue Alma is whitish, with a tinge of yellow and grey at times. Thank you in advance.

How long have you been experiencing these symptoms?:

- More than 6 months

How would you describe the severity of your dryness and eczema?:

- Moderate, bothersome but manageable

What is your current diet like?:

- Mostly warm and cooked foods

Hello thank you for the notes. If emotionally I’m going through a change in life, having left my job after 36 years and feeling lost, trying to find myself again, I feel I need to decompress and sleep in a lot and I don’t have much desire for much. I do push myself like I always had to, but when you were working life made sense and when you were tired made sense. Now, no syllabus on how to live, I’m recalibrating and it’s an awkward time. The heart has not caught up with the head and I’m in a turmoil with body mind spirit. I know it will work out, one step at a time! 🙏. Thank you!

Oils for Dryness (without Kapha heaviness)---- Sesame oil (Til taila) Coconut oil (Narikela taila) Digestive Tea Blend (prepare fresh):— Fennel seeds – 1 tsp (calms gas, supports digestion) Cumin seeds – ½ tsp (reduces bloating, balances Vata) Dry ginger – ¼ tsp (warms digestion, clears Kapha phlegm) Coriander seeds – ½ tsp (cooling, balances Pitta eczema) Boil in 2 cups water → reduce to 1 cup → sip warm after meals. Lifestyle Guidance— Morning sluggishness: Kapha types benefit from early rising (before 6:30 am). Try light exercise or brisk walk to clear mucus. Diet: Favor warm, cooked, lightly spiced foods. Avoid heavy dairy, fried foods, and excess sweets in damp climates. Yoga/Pranayama: Kapalabhati and Bhastrika for Kapha clearing; Sheetali for eczema/Pitta calming. WARM REGARDS DR. ANJALI SEHRAWAT

----You have a mainly Kapha constitution, with some Vata dryness and mild Pitta irritation showing up in winter. The white-yellow tongue and gas suggest sluggish digestion and some ama, which is likely contributing to the skin and mucus. –For oils, use light shatdhaut ghrit 2–3 times per week, not daily. Apply a thin layer, leave 15–20 minutes, then shower warm. If eczema is inflamed, use a small amount of coconut oil or ghee just on the irritated area. Avoid heavy oiling when congested. —For digestion, a daily tea of fennel, cumin, and coriander simmered together will help reduce gas, clear ama, and support balanced digestion without increasing heat or mucus. If very gassy, add a little fresh ginger. ----To reduce morning heaviness and mucus, wake before 6:30am, avoid late dinners, reduce dairy, and favor light, warm, cooked meals. —The main focus is improving digestion — once agni strengthens, the skin and mucus should improve naturally. -------------Rx 1)Avipattikar churna – 1/2 tsf at bedtime with Luke warm water 2) gandhak rasyan 2 tab twice daily after meal 3) Manjishthadi kwath 15 ml+ 15 ml water twice daily after meal OR 4)Fennel + Cumin + Coriander tea – ½ tsp each, simmer 10 min, sip warm through day — External shatdhaut ghrit, 2–3x/week, thin layer, warm bath after Inflamed eczema: apply small amount coconut oil or ghee locally Avoid oiling during heavy congestion —Pathya (Diet & Lifestyle) Warm, light, cooked meals Reduce dairy, avoid late dinner No cold foods, banana, yogurt at night Wake before 6:30 am Dry brushing + mild morning exercise —Treatment Goal Deepana–Pachana (improve agni) Kapha shaman Vata anulomana Rakta–Pitta pacification (skin) — follow up after 15 days

Wow! How did you respond and digest that so fast? I’m much grateful, crying as I read your words. I loved my job (of course there are always negative aspects of it). But overall, I knew what I had and it’s hard to recreate all the essence of community, purpose, serving and intellectual stimulation. Thanks for the strength of words, I know I have it, it’s just upside down at the moment. I won’t give It a timeline, but of course that lurks in my mind, and just trust that life will reshape itself. I’m avoiding just going out and finding a job to keep busy in case that depletes me as you say, but it’s like living anew, trial and error and experiment with different things. I should go out and try different things. But it is REALLY hard to stay awake. I got up last three days at 6:30, watch the sun then go back to bed. It’s ok. I won’t be harsh on myself. Thank you again. Deepest gratitude. 🙏

✓Oils for dryness Kumkumadi Tailam – 3–5 drops on face/neck + under eyes morning & night Jatyadi Tailam or Jatyadi Ghrita – apply thinly on dry legs + hands/eczema patches at night Sesame oil + few drops of Neem oil (1:10 ratio) – very small amount on severely dry leg patches only Never use: heavy oils like Mahanarayana, Dhanwantaram, Ksheerabala or pure ghee on body in winter as they increase Kapha phlegm & stickiness. ✓Digestive teas Drink 2–3 cups daily, sip warm throughout day: Fennel + Cumin + Coriander tea (equal parts, ½ tsp each boiled in 2 cups water) – best overall for your symptoms Tulsi + Ginger tea (fresh tulsi leaves + thin ginger slice) – 1 cup morning or afternoon (clears Kapha phlegm, stimulates agni mildly) Ajwain + Fennel tea – if gas is very trapped/high (½ tsp each) ✓Morning lethargy fix Wake at fixed time (even if difficult) and immediately sip warm water with ¼ tsp dry ginger powder 5–10 min Anulom-Vilom right after waking (stimulates prana, clears Kapha fog) No heavy breakfast = light warm soup/khichdi ✓Quick daily tweaks Keep diet warm & cooked (already good) = add ½ tsp ghee in every meal No cold/raw after 4 pm Sleep 10 pm – 6 am strictly (liver detox window) Light walk 20–30 min after lunch (clears Kapha & improves morning energy) Regards Dr Gursimran Jeet Singh MD Panchakarma

Find yourself a hobby like gardening, painting, it can be anything. Join some club nearby you. It can be related to anything, group discussions etc. You need to help yourself on your own. Nobody is going to make things right for you. It’s only you who can change it. And i believe in you. Take care.
