Doctors' responses
Hi! I’m an assistant to the Ask Ayurveda doctors. I’ve carefully reviewed your question.
I will explain your symptoms through the Ayurvedic perspective so you understand what is happening in your body as a whole.
Your symptoms of a daily sore throat, rough voice, and choking sensation while laughing suggest an imbalance in the Vata and Kapha doshas. The airy and choked voice indicates Vata’s influence, which can cause dryness and irregularity in the vocal cords. The presence of a sore throat and rough voice points to Kapha accumulation, leading to heaviness and congestion in the throat area.
This combination of symptoms signifies a systemic imbalance. In Ayurveda, such throat issues are often linked to weak digestion (Agni) and the accumulation of Ama (toxins). The throat can become a site of congestion and dryness when the body’s cleansing processes are compromised.
To give doctors a precise and effective treatment plan, your answers to the questions below are essential. Without this information, the recommendations will be more general and less accurate.
Please answer each question as clearly as possible.
1. How long have you been experiencing these throat symptoms? (Options: Less than 1 week, 1-4 weeks, 1-6 months, More than 6 months) 2. How would you rate the severity of your sore throat? (Options: Mild, Moderate, Severe, Very severe) 3. Have you noticed any specific triggers for your sore throat, such as cold weather, dust, certain foods, or drinks? 4. Do you experience frequent indigestion or acidity? 6. How often do you use your voice for speaking or singing? (Options: Rarely, Occasionally, Frequently, All day long) 7.
