What is the best Ayurvedic treatment for persistent post-nasal drip after a cold and sinus infection? - #53423
I am writing to seek advice regarding a persistent post-nasal drip that has lasted for 2.5 months. It started after a cold and sinus infection in February. I have already completed two courses of antibiotics and allergy medication (5 days in February and 5 days in March), but the issue persists. I constantly feel thick, sticky phlegm stuck at the back of my throat, which is most severe when I wake up in the morning. I have also noticed a 'cobblestone' appearance in my throat. I found temporary relief for a week while taking Sitopaladi Churna, but the symptoms returned immediately after I stopped it yesterday. This is causing me significant distress, and I would appreciate your guidance on the next steps for treatment.

In ayurveda we can relate this with kapha and vata imbalance. Best ayurvedic approach Sitophaladi churna 1 teaspoon with honey after meal thrice a day. Trikatu churna 1 gm with honey before meal twice a day. Haridrakhand 10gm twice a day after meal with lukewarm water. Nasya with anu tail at morning. Steam at night with ajwain and Tulsi leaves. Gargle with tumeric+ salt. Suck small pieces of muleti will provide soothing effect on throat. Avoid Cold water, fried, oily food.
How many weeks should I continue taking the churna?
Atleast for one month and after 10 days please review, how’s your condition, so that we can plan it in better way
This kind of persistent post nasal drip after cold usually happens due to kapha accumulation along with weak digestion, when mucus becomes thick and sticky it keeps getting stuck in the throat and comes back again after stopping medicines since it is continuing for 2.5 months, we need to clear kapha and improve digestion together to prevent recurrence medicines you can take sitopaladi churna 1/2 tsp twice daily with honey talisadi churna 1/2 tsp twice daily gandhak rasayan 1 tablet twice daily steam inhalation you can continue once daily, it helps in loosening the mucus avoid cold, refrigerated, dairy heavy, sweet and oily foods as they increase kapha and mucus formation prefer warm water, light food, soups and spices like ginger, black pepper in small amounts do not stop medicines suddenly, continue for few weeks and then taper gradually to prevent symptoms coming back sleep on time and avoid late nights as it worsens kapha accumulation with proper clearing and consistency, mucus formation will reduce and throat will feel clear gradually Heartful pranams Dr Raghuveer SN (Ayurvedacharya)
