How to treat persistent post-nasal drip after a cold and sinus infection for 2.5 months? - #53422
I am writing to seek advice regarding a persistent post-nasal drip that has lasted for 2.5 months. It started after a cold and sinus infection in February. I have already completed two courses of antibiotics and allergy medication (5 days in February and 5 days in March), but the issue persists. I constantly feel thick, sticky phlegm stuck at the back of my throat, which is most severe when I wake up in the morning. I have also noticed a 'cobblestone' appearance in my throat. I found temporary relief for a week while taking Sitopaladi Churna, but the symptoms returned immediately after I stopped it yesterday. This is causing me significant distress, and I would appreciate your guidance on the next steps for treatment.

In ayurveda we can relate this with kapha and vata imbalance. Best ayurvedic approach Sitophaladi churna 1 teaspoon with honey after meal thrice a day. Trikatu churna 1 gm with honey before meal twice a day. Haridrakhand 10gm twice a day after meal with lukewarm water. Nasya with anu tail at morning. Steam at night with ajwain and Tulsi leaves. Gargle with tumeric+ salt. Suck small pieces of muleti will provide soothing effect on throat. Avoid Cold water, fried, oily food.
This kind of long-lasting post nasal drip after cold and sinus infection usually happens due to kapha accumulation along with weak agni, because of which mucus becomes thick and sticky and keeps coming back even after temporary relief since it is worse in morning and triggered by cold air, it clearly shows kapha dominance with incomplete clearing medicines you can take sitopaladi churna 1/2 tsp twice daily with honey talisadi churna 1/2 tsp twice daily vyoshadi vati 1 tablet twice daily you got relief with sitopaladi earlier, so continue it for longer duration and do not stop suddenly, taper it slowly once symptoms reduce steam inhalation once daily is good, you can continue it regularly avoid cold air, AC exposure, cold water, curd at night, sweets and heavy foods as they increase mucus take warm water throughout the day and include ginger, black pepper in small amounts to help liquify kapha keep dinner light and early, and avoid sleeping immediately after food with consistent clearing of kapha and supporting digestion, this condition will gradually reduce and not recur Heartful pranams Dr Raghuveer SN (Ayurvedacharya)
