Frequent urination for 15–20 years can happen due to an overactive bladder, but it is important to rule out causes like diabetes, prostate enlargement (in men), urinary infection, bladder irritation, anxiety, excess caffeine/tea, or weak pelvic muscles. Since it is severely affecting daily life and you already used medicines before, you should get evaluated by a urologist once. -From an Ayurveda perspective, this is often related to Apana Vata aggravation with bladder weakness (Mutravaha srotas dushti). —Medicines 1) Chandraprabha Vati – 2 tablets twice daily after food with lukewarm water 2) Gokshuradi Guggulu – 2 tablets twice daily after food 3) Varunadi Kashayam – 15 ml with equal water twice daily before meals —Investigations Urine routine & culture Fasting blood sugar / HbA1c Ultrasound KUB with post-void residual urine ----Advice Avoid tea, coffee, alcohol, cold drinks, very spicy food Do not drink excess water at one time; sip gradually Stop fluids 2–3 hrs before sleep Practice Kegel exercises and bladder training Avoid constipation —Follow up: After 4–6 weeks.
Classical Line of Ayurvedic Treatment To reverse a 20-year-old Vata dominance in the bladder, the treatment must focus on pacifying Vata, strengthening the Basti (bladder), and toning the pelvic floor muscles. Herbal Principles (Vata Shamaka & Basti Dridhakara) In practice, we look toward formulations that nourish the nervous system and calm the hyperactive Apana Vayu: ••Chandraprabha Vati: Frequently used as a prime Basti Rasayana to improve bladder tone and regulate urination. ••Gokshuradi Guggulu / Varunadi Vati: To clear any subtle micro-inflammation or metabolic impurities (Ama) in the urinary tract. ••Ashwagandha & Shatavari: Excellent nervine tonics (Medhya/Rasayana) that help calm the smooth muscles of the bladder and reduce anxiety-induced urgency. Diet and Lifestyle Adjustments (Aahar & Vihar) ••Avoid Vata-Aggravating Foods: Completely cut down on dry, cold, stale, excessively spicy, and bitter foods. Avoid raw salads or sprouts in the evening, as they increase Ruksha (dry) quality in the body, aggravating Vata. ••Warm, Unctuous Diet: Incorporate a small amount of A2 cow’s ghee into your meals. Eat warm, freshly cooked soups, lentils, and grains to soothe the nervous system. ••The Fluid Paradox: Do not severely restrict water out of fear of urination, as highly concentrated urine irritates the bladder lining, worsening urgency. Drink lukewarm water evenly throughout the day, but taper it off 2 hours before bed. ••Bladder Irritants: Eliminate caffeine, tea, alcohol, carbonated drinks, and artificial sweeteners completely. They act as direct triggers for bladder spasms. 3. Physical Training (Basti Vyayama) ••Ashwini Mudra / Mula Bandha: These are classical yogic practices akin to modern Kegel exercises. Gently contracting and releasing the pelvic floor muscles 20–30 times a day helps regain voluntary control over the detrusor muscle of the bladder. ••Bladder Retraining: Try to consciously delay urination by 5–10 minutes when the first urge strikes (unless it causes pain) to slowly stretch and retrain the bladder capacity.
