Your recent experience of blurred vision and difficulty in seeing distant objects could be influenced by several factors, including allergies, especially if you have a history of skin allergies. Allergic reactions can lead to inflammation, which may affect your eyes and cause symptoms such as blurry vision, redness, or itching. In Ayurveda, this condition may be associated with an imbalance in the Pitta dosha, which governs vision and metabolism.

To address your symptoms, it’s important to first identify and manage any underlying allergies. Incorporating Triphala in your routine can help cleanse the body and may improve digestive health, which in turn can alleviate constipation. A balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables, particularly those high in antioxidants like carrots, blueberries, and leafy greens, can support overall eye health.

Additionally, you can use cold compresses on your eyes to reduce irritation and inflammation. Regularly practicing eye exercises—such as focusing on distant objects or palming—can also improve eye health. Staying well-hydrated and ensuring adequate fiber intake can help with your constipation problem, promoting regular bowel movements.

Blurry vision can definitely be frustrating, and it’s understandable to wonder if there’s a connection to recent allergy issues. But it’s likely not the allergies themselves, at least not directly, causing the vision problems. Usually, skin allergies and pimples are more related to dosha imbalances in the body, could be Pitta or Kapha, but eyesight issues might lean more towards something else.

In Ayurveda, vision trouble is often linked to an imbalance in the Pitta dosha and the health of the Alochaka Pitta, which specifically oversees vision. Could be that some lifestyle factors or diet might be contributing to this. Sometimes what’s happening in the digestive fire, or ‘agni’, can spill over into discomforts in other areas. If your digestion’s been off or you’ve had some diet shifts, it might contribute too.

First, think about reducing Pitta aggravating foods. Things like spicy foods, alcohol, caffeine maybe? — they can inflame Pitta. Instead, try cooling herbs and foods, cucumber, coriander, all things soothing and hydrating might help calm things down.

In terms of routine, if you’re spending a lot of time on screens – zooms, texting, whatever – that eyestrain can really matter. People forget to blink, me too! Take those breaks every 20 mins or so – look at something far away. There’s this thing called ‘eye palming’, rub your hands together to warm them and rest them over closed eyes. Feels incredible!

Drizzling warm Triphala water over the eyes in a kind of eyewash may be quite revitalizing too. Just remember to prepare it hygienically. Sometimes these little details help much more than we think in Ayurveda.

But, and this is a big but – if the vision issue persists, or especially if it starts affecting your day a lot, seeing an eye care expert’s a must. Don’t risk safety, always best to get a comprehensive check.
