Pravahika - #7369
For the last week, I’ve been suffering from diarrhea, stomach cramps, and a constant feeling of weakness. I visited an Ayurvedic doctor who told me my condition aligns with Pravahika, which refers to diarrhea or dysentery caused by an imbalance in the digestive system and aggravated doshas, particularly Vata and Pitta. From what I’ve researched, Pravahika can occur due to factors like contaminated food, indigestion, or excessive heat in the body. Symptoms such as watery stools, abdominal pain, and dehydration are common. My doctor prescribed herbs like Bilva, Kutaja, and Mustaka to stop diarrhea and improve digestion. He also recommended a light diet consisting of rice gruel (Kanji), buttermilk, and boiled vegetables to pacify the aggravated doshas. I’m curious if anyone here has treated Pravahika with Ayurvedic remedies. How effective were herbs like Kutaja or Bilva in stopping diarrhea and reducing stomach pain? How long did it take for the condition to improve completely? Another concern I have is about hydration. My doctor advised drinking herbal teas like fennel or coriander water to maintain electrolyte balance. Did you try similar remedies, and did they help in reducing weakness? If you’ve dealt with Pravahika, please share your experience and any Ayurvedic tips that helped you recover. Did you make any lifestyle or dietary changes to prevent recurrence?
