Doctors’ responses

Namaste Ayo Damola ji, Sinusitis occurs due to Kapha imbalance leading to congestion, blocked nasal passages, and headaches. Ayurveda focuses on clearing blockages, reducing Kapha, and improving immunity to provide long-term relief. Below is a holistic Ayurvedic approach to manage your symptoms: 1. Nasal Cleansing (Nasya Karma) Anu Taila Nasya: Administer 2-3 drops of Anu Taila in each nostril every morning after steam inhalation. It helps clear nasal passages, reduce inflammation, and strengthen the sinuses. Steam Inhalation with Eucalyptus or Ajwain: Add a few drops of eucalyptus oil or a teaspoon of ajwain seeds to hot water and inhale the steam to loosen mucus and open nasal passages. 2. Herbal Remedies Sitopaladi Churna: Take 1/2 teaspoon mixed with honey twice daily to clear mucus and reduce inflammation. Trikatu Churna (Dry Ginger, Black Pepper, Pippali): A pinch of Trikatu with honey helps clear Kapha and improve sinus drainage. Haridra (Turmeric): Mix 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric and black pepper in warm milk. Drink before bedtime to reduce inflammation and prevent nasal blockages. 3. Diet Recommendations (Ahara) Avoid cold, heavy, and mucus-forming foods like dairy, fried items, and processed foods. Include warm, light foods such as soups, moong dal, ginger tea, and steamed vegetables. Drink warm water infused with ginger, tulsi, or a pinch of cinnamon throughout the day. 4. Lifestyle Adjustments (Vihara) Elevate Head During Sleep: Sleep with an extra pillow to prevent mucus accumulation. Abhyanga (Oil Massage): Massage your face, especially the forehead and sinuses, with warm sesame oil before bathing to reduce Kapha congestion. Avoid exposure to cold weather, dust, and strong fragrances that aggravate sinus issues. 5. Long-Term Detoxification Panchakarma: If symptoms persist, undergo a Vamana (therapeutic emesis) or Nasyam detox therapy under an Ayurvedic practitioner’s guidance.
