Hello Sanjiv , Psoriasis is a long-term skin issue — causes red, scaly patches, mostly on the scalp, elbows, legs, and face. Often gets worse with stress, cold weather, or certain foods. Creams and diets may give short relief, but a deeper approach is needed. In Ayurveda, it is due to Vata and Kapha imbalance — leads to dryness, itching, and inflammation. How long have you had psoriasis, and have the patches been increasing or spreading? Do you notice flare-ups during specific seasons or after eating certain foods? Have you experienced joint pain, stiffness, or swelling, which may suggest psoriatic arthritis? Are you under stress or facing any emotional challenges? What medications, creams, or therapies have you tried, and how effective were they? Please share this information to help you and suggest proper management.

Hello Sanjiv, Psoriasis is often linked to imbalanced pitta and vata doshas, leading to inflammation, dryness, and scaling. Since it is a chronic condition, a deeper detoxification approach is needed. Please provide more details on your digestion, bowel habits, stress levels, and any past illnesses or treatments. Have you noticed seasonal flare-ups, itching severity, or any triggers like stress or certain foods? For ayurvedic treatment, consider taking maha manjisthadi kwath or sarivadyasava for blood purification, gandhak rasayan to reduce skin inflammation, and a mixture of neem and turmeric with warm water daily. Applying coconut oil mixed with neem or kumkumadi oil can help with scalp and skin dryness. Panchatikta ghrita guggulu is also beneficial for chronic skin conditions. Avoid spicy, sour, and fried foods, and increase bitter and cooling foods like karela, neem, and aloe vera juice. Practice abhyanga (self-massage) with medicated oils and follow a regular routine with yoga and pranayama to manage stress.

When it comes to tackling psoriasis, Ayurveda views it as an imbalance of the doshas, primarily Pitta and Kapha. Stress and a sluggish liver can throw those dosha out of whack, causing flare-ups on the skin. It's crucial to find root cause and realign your body, rather than just slapping on creams. Let's dive into what can potentially help you in this situation. First, you could try incorporating aloe vera gel onto the affected areas. It's quite soothing — you could apply it daily, it helps to cool that Pitta. Prepare turmeric paste (just mix turmeric powder with a little water) and apply it a couple times a week on stubborn spots. Turmeric is like magic for inflammation and might just help soften the plaque. Diet-wise, consider sipping on neem tea. Neem, bitter as it may be, cleans up the blood which is essential here. You can make it by steeping a few neem leaves in hot water. A little tough to drink but the benefits are worth considering. Also, adding a spoonful of flaxseed oil or ghee (clarified butter) to daily meals could be beneficial for dryness and texture. Internally, right Rosha Guggulu might be something to explore - it's an Ayurvedic preparation known to help with skin conditions. Bute don't jump into anything without checking with healthcare provider, just in case. And the digestive fire (agni) needs attention too. Sipping warm water with a dash of lemon throughout the day might, oddly enough, aid in digestion. Reflect upon any stressors, as stress management is huge here. Gentle yoga or meditation, even if for just 10 minutes daily, can do the trick. Let's keep in mind that lifestyle and environment have a significant influence. Sweat it out with exercise, and be gentle with your bathing products - choose mild, chemical-free stuff. And please, stay patient! It might take time to see significant improvements, but consistency is key. And please, consult a practitioner who can tailor this all to your unique prakriti and condition.
