Condom Catheter - #17509
My father has been using a condom catheter for the past few months due to urinary incontinence. He had prostate surgery last year, and ever since then, he’s had trouble controlling his urine, especially at night. The doctor recommended a condom catheter instead of a regular catheter because it’s less invasive and doesn’t require insertion into the urethra. At first, it seemed like a good option, but now he’s been facing some issues, and I’m wondering if Ayurveda has any solutions. One of the main problems is skin irritation. Even though we clean the area regularly and use the recommended adhesive, my father still develops redness and mild rashes around the area where the condom catheter is attached. We’ve tried using barrier creams, but they don’t always work. Are there any Ayurvedic oils or herbal pastes that can help soothe the skin and prevent irritation? Another issue is occasional leakage. Even when we ensure the condom catheter is properly fitted, sometimes it leaks, especially when he moves a lot during sleep. Could there be an Ayurvedic approach to strengthening bladder control so he might not need to rely on a condom catheter all the time? I’ve read that certain herbs like Gokshura and Ashwagandha might help, but I don’t know how to use them correctly for this condition. Diet is also something I’m concerned about. He drinks a lot of tea and water, but I wonder if that’s making his incontinence worse. Are there any Ayurvedic dietary recommendations that might help improve bladder function and reduce the need for a condom catheter? Lastly, I wanted to ask about long-term management. Is there an Ayurvedic therapy or Panchakarma treatment that can help someone regain better bladder control naturally? Or is the use of a condom catheter going to be a permanent solution? I’d really appreciate any advice on how we can manage this situation with Ayurveda. If anyone has used Ayurvedic remedies to help with urinary incontinence or to reduce dependency on a condom catheter, please share your experiences.
