Yes, gaining healthy weight through Ayurvedic medicine is very much possible by focusing on strengthening digestion, enhancing nutrient absorption, and nourishing the body tissues (dhatus). For someone with underweight issues, we need to assess if you experience poor digestion, irregular appetite, or any stress or anxiety, as these can hinder weight gain. Have you noticed any of these symptoms?

I would recommend Ashwagandha powder or capsules, which is excellent for building muscle mass and improving stamina. You can take Ashwagandha with warm milk (preferably cow’s milk or almond milk) daily to promote nourishment and strength. Additionally, Shatavari can help rejuvenate tissues and balance energy levels. You could also take Chyawanprash, which is a nourishing herbal jam, rich in Amla and other rejuvenating herbs. This supports immunity, digestion, and gradual healthy weight gain.

In terms of diet, incorporate warm, nourishing, and nutrient-dense foods like ghee, milk, soaked almonds, whole grains, and root vegetables. Avoid cold, dry, or processed foods, as these can weaken Agni (digestive fire). Regular Abhyanga (self-massage with sesame oil) will improve circulation, reduce Vata, and help your body retain nourishment. How is your appetite and digestion currently?

Gaining weight, especially in a balanced way, is definitely something Ayurveda can help with. At 40, our metabolism can shift a bit, so it’s important to fine-tune things. First off, let’s talk about your dosha, which plays a big part in your natural constitution. If you’re naturally more Vata dominant, which is light and airy, it might be tougher to put on weight. But not impossible! We just need to stoke your agni, or digestive fire.

Consider starting your day with a warm glass of water mixed with a squeeze of lemon and a pinch of Himalayan salt. This is great for kickstarting your digestion. After that, breakfast’s key. Try some warm, cooked foods like oatmeal made with whole milk, adding in spices like cardamom or cinnamon to build up warmth.

When it comes to medications, we have Ashwagandha, a pretty famous herb in Ayurveda, known for helping to build muscle mass and increase energy. Mixing Ashwagandha powder with milk and consuming it at night might be just what you need.

Another thing is ghee. Adding ghee into your meals can boost one’s weight sustainably. It’s nourishing for all the dhatus (tissues). Sneak it into your rice, daal or rotis!

Now, on the lifestyle end of things. Exercise is important but don’t overdo cardio. Focus on strength training which helps in muscle building. Make sure you’re resting enough too.

And consistent meal times are super helpful too. Avoid long gaps and snack lightly between meals. Nuts like almonds and cashews are good choices. Don’t ignore hydration — but avoid drinking too much water right before or during meals. It can douse that essential agni.

If there’s any specific concern or feeling you have about your health or digestion, look into personal consultation. It’s all about balance and ensuring anything you take aligns with your body’s needs.

Remember, Ayurveda’s a journey, not a quick fix. But with patience and a good routine, you’re likely to see those kilos come on in a healthy way.

Thanks so much for clarifying this! I had no idea mixing meds could be risky. I'll stick to my doctor's meds and look into Ayurveda separately.
