Dealing with vestibular migraines can be quite challenging, especially when the usual medications don't seem to bring relief. In Ayurveda, such migraines might be linked to an imbalance in Vata and Pitta doshas, contributing to headaches and other related symptoms. To begin addressing this, consider working on calming a potential Vata-Pitta imbalance with some natural and lifestyle modifications. Firstly, incorporate grounding and nourishing foods into your diet. Opt for regular meals with warm, cooked foods and avoid processed or oily foods. Consuming ghee and whole grains can help pacify Vata, while cooling foods like cucumbers, cilantro, and coconut water can balance Pitta. Reduce intake of caffeine and spicy foods as these can aggravate Pitta and contribute to headaches. Furthermore, a valuable addition could be Triphala taken before bed, it may help regulate your digestive fire or Agni, contributing to overall balance within your system. Ashwagandha, too, can be effective in calming Vata; consider having it in milk before sleeping. Regular yoga and meditation can also serve in managing stress and reducing migraine frequency – emphasizing pranayama or deep breathing exercises. Gentle inversions might improve blood circulation and ease forehead heaviness. Consider following an oil massage or Abhyanga with warm sesame oil. This could be particularly beneficial for pacifying Vata and easing tension. Applying a few drops of warm sesame oil in your ears (Karna Purana) could also aid in balancing Vata. If you've been stressed, humor me with ensuring solid 7-8 hours of restful sleep as this is crucial to a balanced dosha and reduction of migraines. Routine self-care practices should be integrated gradually and consistently for best results. While these Ayurvedic approaches can complement your ongoing treatments, let's don't forget the importance of regular follow-ups with your healthcare provider to monitor your condition. If symptoms persist or worsen, please seek further professional medical attention without delay.
