can honey remove pimples - #24201

Wyatt

I am really struggling with some breakouts lately and keep wondering, can honey remove pimples? Like, I’ve tried so many things! I even went to a dermatologist last month but all they did was recommend some creams that haven't helped much. I read somewhere that honey has anti-inflammatory properties or something. Honestly, I’ve been using it on my face for a week now, just slapping it on after washing but I’m not sure if it’s even working. I mean, I thought it would be much quicker to see results, but I still have those annoying red spots! Last night, I looked in the mirror and it just feels so discouraging. I even switched to a gentle cleanser thinking that might help too... Do you guys think using honey alone is enough or do I need to be doing something else alongside it? I’ve heard people say honey is great for skin, so I’m kind of hoping it works, but I really need some advice on how to make it effective. Any tips on how to apply it, like, should I leave it on for a long time or just a little? Thanks!

Honey can indeed be beneficial for acne due to its multiple properties; but it should be integrated into a broader skincare routine for best effects. Honey is known for its antimicrobial properties and can help reduce bacteria that contribute to acne. It's also a natural humectant, meaning it can help keep your skin moisturized, which is important because overly dry skin can sometimes worsen acne. However, using honey alone might not be enough to see significant improvment. It's important to understand that acne is often the result of an imbalance in your doshas, specifically Pitta and Kapha in Ayurveda. When these doshas are out of balance, they can cause excessive oil (sebum) production and inflammation, which can lead to acne. Begin by continuing with the gentle cleanser you’re using, followed by applying a thin layer of raw honey to your face. It's best to leave honey on for about 20 minutes before washing it off with lukewarm water—doing this once daily should do the trick. Consistency is key with natural remedies, so patience will be necessary. But don't stop there! Pay attention to your diet as well. Avoid Pitta-aggravating foods like spicy and oily items, and include more cooling foods like cucumber and melons. Also, try to manage stress since it can trigger or worsen breakouts. Consider simple herbs known for balancing doshas, like Neem or Turmeric. These can be used as topical masks or consumed in consultation with an Ayurvedic practitioner. A final step would be sticking to clean pillowcases and avoiding touching your face too much, which can spread bacteria. All these steps together might help in tackling the acne from various angles—topical, dietary and lifestyle. If your condition does not improve, continuing with specialized guidance from a dermatologist or Ayurvedic professional is a wise choice.
