Hair loss at your age can often be attributed to a combination of factors including stress, hormonal imbalances, and nutritional deficiencies. From an Ayurvedic perspective, hair health is linked to the balance of the doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha), particularly Pitta. When Pitta is imbalanced, it can manifest as hair loss. Here are some recommendations to address this.

First, it’s important to focus on your diet to help balance Pitta dosha. Consume cooling, hydrating foods like cucumbers, melons, and leafy greens. Include healthy fats such as ghee and coconut oil, they nourish the scalp and promote hair growth. Avoid excessively spicy, hot, or oily foods as they can aggravate Pitta.

Next, incorporate Ayurvedic herbs known for their hair promoting properties. Bhringraj, also known as “King of Hair,” is beneficial. You can use bhringraj oil by applying it to the scalp and massaging gently, leaving it for at least 30 minutes before washing. This should be done twice a week to see results over time. Amla (Indian gooseberry) is another potent herb; consume it as fresh fruit or powder form. It’s rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, reinforcing hair follicles.

Stress reduction is crucial, as it often exacerbates hair loss. Practices like meditation and yoga can help maintain a calm mind. Specific yoga poses such as Sarvangasana can increase blood flow to the scalp.

Besides, ensure you’re maintaining a proper sleep routine. Quality sleep plays a vital role in recovery and regeneration processes in the body, including hair follicle regeneration.

Consistency is key - these changes won’t yield overnight results, hair growth is slow by nature. Results can typically appear over several months. If, however, your hair loss persists or becomes severe, consulting with a dermatologist or trichologist might be advisable as there could be underlying medical issues requiring attention.
