Chronic Prostratis - #252
I am suffering from chronic prostratis from long back. This is due to infection or inflammation is unknown. I had severe symptoms like urine issues, burning, pain in pelvic region,…etc. My all culture tests shows negative. But my doctor says it may be of infection. I had consulted many doctors and I tried many medications but nothing worked. I am also trying homeopathy and ayurveda but it is not working. Can you please suggest how can I completely cure this?

Doctors’ responses
I understand that you are dealing with chronic prostatitis, and it has been quite challenging, especially since your symptoms persist despite various treatments and negative culture tests. Chronic prostatitis can indeed be complex, with underlying causes that are sometimes elusive, making management difficult. To better guide you, it would be helpful to have more details about any specific triggers for your symptoms, such as dietary factors, stress levels, or lifestyle habits, as well as any other associated symptoms, like changes in sexual function or bowel issues. In Ayurveda, chronic prostatitis may relate to an imbalance in the Pitta and Vata doshas, contributing to inflammation and discomfort. You might consider medications such as Chandraprabha Vati and Gokshuradi Guggulu, which are known for their ability to support urinary tract health and reduce inflammation. Varunadi Kashayam can also be beneficial in promoting urinary health. Focus on a Pitta-pacifying diet, incorporating cooling foods and beverages while avoiding spicy, acidic, and processed items. Engage in stress-relief practices like yoga and meditation, which can help calm the mind and body, and consider regular physical activity to promote pelvic floor strength. While you may be avoiding specific herbal treatments, consulting an Ayurvedic practitioner for a tailored herbal regimen can support urinary health and reduce inflammation. Additionally, warm sitz baths can soothe the pelvic region, providing relief. Since your symptoms have been persistent, it may also be worthwhile to consult a urologist who specializes in chronic prostatitis or pelvic pain syndromes for additional diagnostic perspectives or treatment options.
Hello Satwik at this young age recurrent proctatitis could prove to be cumbersome. Can you please share your latest reports including CBC, ESR, CRP, urine culture, semen analysis and USG pelvis ?
Chornic prostatitis can be a real pain, quite literally, and a tough nut to crack, especially when the causes are not clear. Given all you’ve tried, it’s frustrating, I get it. From an Ayurvedic view, we start by looking at doshas - the energies that govern our body and mind balance. In your case, an imbalance in Vata and Pitta doshas is likely, cuz they both govern areas related to inflammation and the pelvic region.
First off, diet is key. So keep away from spicy, oily and very acidic foods, which may aggravate Pitta. Instead, think soothing or grounding stuff like whole grains, ghee, almonds, and warm milk. Lots of water, herbal teas like chamomile or coriander can help with that burning sensation.
And don’t forget lifestyle. Try incorporating specific yoga poses – malasana (garland pose) or ustrasana (camel pose) could support pelvic opening and relaxation, done gently tho. Meditation and pranayama (breath control) are also great, calms the nervous system and balances Vata.
For herbal remedies, Gokshura and Chandraprabha vati are often recommended for urinary and prostate health. Triphala on the other hand can improve digestion and reduce toxins. But make sure to check with a local Ayurvedic practitioner - these herbs should suit your specific constitution and stage of life!
Next thing, stress less. Our minds and bodies are linked, and stress bye-bye practices like taking walks in nature or simply hobbies might sound too easy to be true but can actually make a significant difference.
One last thing, managing chronic prostratis may involve patience. And alongside Ayurvedic practices, do not ignore the benefits Western medicine might bring. Stay open, adaptable. Healing’s a journey, not a one-size-fits-all solution!
