Kanika

I have got a keloid mark on my hand which is not removing. Please let me know how to remove it. I used silicon gel also but it’s not working or maybe it is taking very long time. Hope there is a solution instead of laser treatment.

Keloid is caused by own body 's system. If you remove it will again reoccur as it’s body’s tendency to form keloid. With Agnikarma the size can be reduced, but need to be get it done by an expert ayurvedic physician.

Considering the persistent keloid mark on your hand, Ayurveda offers approaches that focus on addressing underlying imbalances and promoting skin health naturally. Keloids are a result of aggravated vata and pitta doshas leading to disrupted tissue repair processes. A targeted Ayurvedic strategy can help to manage and reduce the appearance of keloids, aligning with both skin’s natural healing and overall balance in the body.

Firstly, applying a topical paste made from turmeric (haldi) mixed with neem powder and a few drops of castor oil can assist in controlling inflammation and promoting healing. This paste should be gently applied to the keloid once daily, allowing it to sit for about 20 minutes before rinsing off with warm water. Turmeric is known for its anti-inflammatory and wound-healing properties, while neem helps detoxify skin, and castor oil nourishes the tissues.

Dietary adjustments also play a key role. Reducing intake of spicy, acidic, and salty foods can help balance pitta dosha, and incorporating cooling, astringent foods like cucumber, coriander, and green leafy vegetables can support this process. Staying hydrated with warm water or herbal teas, like chamomile or tulsi, may also strengthen skin resilience. Focus on regular, fresh, and simple meals to help maintain digestive agni, enhancing nutrient assimilation and aiding in skin repair.

Furthermore, managing stress through gentle yoga practices or meditation can be beneficial, aiding in reducing vata imbalance, which often exacerbates tissue-related issues. Implementing a regular sleep schedule and ensuring adequate rest will bolster your overall recovery and skin health.

If you haven’t already, consider natural oils like coconut, with gentle anti-microbial and moisturizing properties, to use in self-massage (abhyanga), as it can enhance circulation and soften skin over time. Remember to consult with a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner before trying new remedies, especially if you have specific allergies or sensitivities.

Observing these practices over a few months may bring visible improvement, though patience and consistency are key. If the keloid persists or becomes aggravated, seeking specialized Ayurvedic consultation can provide personalized insights into your prakriti (constitution) and pinpoint more precise interventions.

Keloids can indeed be stubborn as they represent an overgrowth of scar tissue that usually forms after an injury or surgery. From a Siddha-Ayurvedic perspective, keloids may be associated with an imbalance in the vata-pitta dosha, linked to the skin’s excessive heat and dryness. While relief through natural methods might be gradual, consistent care can help manage this condition.

First, you might consider using Kumkumadi tailam, a herbal oil traditionally used in Ayurveda to improve skin complexion and texture. Apply a few drops of this oil gently on the keloid mark twice daily. This should be done consistently for a few weeks to start noticing changes.

Second, the external application of turmeric paste may help. Mix turmeric with water or honey to create a paste and apply it to the affected area daily. Turmeric’s anti-inflammatory properties can aid in reducing the keloid’s size and redness.

Third, maintaining a balanced diet that supports skin health can promote internal healing. Increase your intake of foods like fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts, and seeds. Drinking warm water with a few drops of lemon juice on an empty stomach every morning could also aid digestion and contribute to overall skin health.

Additionally, you can consider consulting with a Siddha-Ayurvedic practitioner who might advise specific internal herbal formulations personalized to balance your dosha and strengthen tissue repair.

If the keloid causes significant discomfort or doesn’t respond to traditional methods over time, it may be prudent to consult a dermatologist for potential alternative treatments. Acting upon these suggestions should aid in addressing the root cause and, gradually, the keloid itself.
