In the context of your daughter’s condition, it is essential to address the immediate concerns of hydrocephalus, which can cause symptoms like vomiting and headaches. While Ayurvedic practices emphasize holistic health and balance, it is important to follow your doctor’s advice regarding the shunt surgery. This is because the buildup of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) can lead to serious complications, and modern medical interventions like shunt surgery are effective at relieving pressure in such cases.

In addition to the medical treatment, Ayurveda can support recovery and overall wellbeing. Firstly, monitor the balance of her doshas – particularly Vata, as it involves the nervous system and movements of fluids within the body. Warm, nourishing foods like soups; warm milk with a pinch of nutmeg or turmeric can support Vata balance. Avoid cold or dry foods which might aggravate Vata.

Daily gentle head massages using warm Brahmi oil or sesame oil can be soothing and may aid in calming the mind and body. Ensure she stays hydrated but manage fluid intake in consultation with your doctors, given her condition. Rest is crucial, so create a calming environment where she can recover effectively. Soft music and deep breathing exercises can help ease stress and anxiety.

Avoid overstimulation, including excessive screen time and noise. Enforce a routine that involves regular bedtimes, meals, and simple activities that do not strain her. Meditation practices may also help to maintain calmness and balance Prana Vata, the subdosha governing brain function. Regular check-ins with medical professionals should guide your choices; do not replace medical care with home remedies.

Hydrocephalus, with its disturbing symptoms like vomiting and headaches, is often medically managed through shunt placement to relieve the cerebrospinal fluid buildup. While modern medical advice, in this case, often requires timely intervention, especially after brain surgery, supportive measures from a Siddha-Ayurvedic perspective can complement overall wellbeing without replacing urgent medical procedures like shunt surgery.

In this context, addressing vata dosha imbalances may provide some comforting effects. Vata, when aggravated, can disrupt the nervous system functions. Consider using herbs such as Brahmi and Ashwagandha under professional guidance, which may help calm the mind and support neurological function over time.

Dietary adjustments might involve warm, moist foods to keep vata under control. Avoid excessive dry or cold foods. Well-cooked rice dishes, with a little ghee, may also bring balance. Ginger tea could help digestion and offset nausea if it’s compatible with her current treatments.

Gentle oil application, like sesame oil on the scalp, might support calming vata. However, any such topical treatments should be reviewed with her healthcare provider, considering her surgical history. Encouraging adequate rest and minimizing stress is crucial.

However, with worsening symptoms like persistent headaches and vomiting, it’s crucial to follow the doctor’s recommendation for shunt surgery. The indications for it usually suggest necessary intervention, and delaying could pose health risks. Combining modern treatment with holistic care often provides a balanced path forward. Always keep continuous communication with your daughter’s healthcare team to ensure all treatments are safe and beneficial.
