Planet Ayurveda Sharpunkha Capsule - #34158
I am really struggling lately with some skin issues that just won’t go away. I've tried a bunch of stuff, accutane in the past, even some over-the-counter creams but nothing feels like it works, to be honest. A friend suggested I look into Planet Ayurveda Sharpunkha Capsule, said it’s helped her with similar issues. I was iffy about it at first, but honestly, I’m getting kinda desperate for a solution. My skin has been really red and flaky, like really bad patches on my cheeks and forehead. I also can’t shake this feeling of itching too; it's just driving me nuts! The stuff I tried before only helped a little, and I feel like I’ve exhausted almost all my options. A dermatologist mentioned some topical steroids, but I’m not thrilled to go that route. I read a few reviews online about Planet Ayurveda Sharpunkha Capsule and how it’s supposedly good for detoxifying and maybe even addressing some chronic skin problems. Has anyone here actually tried it? Did it work for you? I am just curious if this could be the thing that finally clears it up. Any experiences or advice would be super helpful!! Thx!

Doctors’ responses
Skin issues like the ones you’re experiencing can indeed be frustrating, and it’s understandable to look towards different solutions in search of relief. The symptoms you’re describing—redness, flakiness, and itching—indicate an imbalance that might be rooted in Pitta or Kapha doshas, which are known to impact the skin’s health according to ayurvedic principles. Sharpunkha (Tephrosia purpurea) is an herb traditionally used in Ayurveda to support liver health, which in turn can influence skin condition due to the liver’s role in detoxification.
Sharpunkha Capsules, like those from Planet Ayurveda, may help support liver function, which can sometimes reflect positively on skin health. However, it’s key to remember that relying solely on any single supplement usually doesn’t address the root causes as inline with Ayurvedic practice, which believes in a holistic approach. While some individuals might experience improvements while using Sharpunkha Capsules, the results can vary considerably depending on your particular prakriti (constitution) and other health factors.
For addressing Pitta dosha imbalance that can lead to inflammatory skin conditions, incorporate cooling foods and practices into your routine. Consume more leafy greens, cucumbers, and fresh coconut water. Avoid excessively spicy, hot, or oily foods that could aggravate Pitta. Try practicing cooling pranayamas like Sheetali breathing—you can do this daily to help calm the body’s internal heat.
Topical solutions might also help complement the internal treatment. Ayurvedic oils like neem or coconut oil, which are cooling by nature, can provide some topical relief, too.
Above all, if considering Sharpunkha or any supplement, consulting with an Ayurvedic practitioner or your healthcare provider is beneficial, to align with any prescribed medications and ensure they suit your individual needs. If the redness and itching persist or worsen, follow your dermatologist’s advice for urgent situations.
Planet Ayurveda Sharpunkha Capsule, deriving its active properties from the Sharpunkha (Tephrosia purpurea) herb, is traditionally known for supporting liver health and aiding detoxification processes, which could positively impact skin conditions. In Siddha-Ayurvedic understanding, skin issues such as yours with redness and flakiness may be rooted in imbalances in the doshas, particularly Pitta dosha, coupled with toxins (ama) accumulation in the body.
These capsules primarily work by optimizing liver function, which is crucial since a well-functioning liver supports the elimination of toxins and balances the body’s internal systems. With skin issues, especially chronic or rebellious ones, it’s essential to ensure that digestion and elimination processes are working smoothly—this is where Sharpunkha might have supportive benefits.
While Sharpunkha itself could potentially contribute to alleviating your skin’s redness and flakiness by addressing internal toxin loads, it’s not a standalone cure for all skin concerns. Integrating Sharpunkha Capsules along with dietary adjustments to pacify Pitta—such as avoiding excessively spicy, oily, or hot foods—could enhance the efficacy. Adding bitter and cooling foods like ghee, cucumber, and leafy greens might be beneficial. Aloe vera juice consumed in moderation can also soothe aggravated Pitta and support digestive health.
Remember to listen to your body’s responses. It’s advisable to begin with lower dosages and watch for any internal shifts or reactions. However, given your history with accutane and ongoing discomfort, consulting with an Ayurvedic practitioner in person is important before starting. They can tailor guidance specific to your constitution and current needs, ensuring no confounding interactions with past medications. Ensure to follow up with your dermatologist too, as avoiding potential complications from past treatments is crucial.
If at any point you notice worsening symptoms or new developments like increased swelling or changes in texture, seek medical attention promptly. Balancing safety with holistic approaches often yields the best results.
