Managing long-term allergic rhinitis along with digestive issues such as loose stools, calls for a holistic approach. According to Ayurveda, these issues might be linked to an imbalance in the Kapha and Vata doshas. Allergic rhinitis is often associated with an aggravated Kapha, while digestive issues like occasional loose stools suggest Vata disturbance. Balancing these doshas can help.

For allergic rhinitis, one effective strategy is regular nasal irrigation or neti pot cleansing, using warm saline water. Doing this in the morning can clear the nasal passages and reduce symptoms of allergy. Ayurveda also recommends herbs like turmeric and tulsi (holy basil). A pinch of turmeric powder with warm milk before bed can help, while tulsi tea consumed daily may strengthen your respiratory system.

Digestive issues require strengthening the digestive agni (fire). Including ginger and black pepper in your meals can enhance digestion. A blend of cumin, fennel, and coriander seeds, steeped for 10 minutes in hot water, can be consumed after meals to promote digestive stability. Consider avoiding raw, cold, or processed foods, as they may further imbalance the Vata.

Diet plays a crucial role. Incorporate cooked foods that are warm, light, and mildly spiced with turmeric, asafoetida, and ginger. Increase intake of boiled vegetables and lentil soups. Stay hydrated — drink warm water throughout the day.

Yoga and pranayama (breathing exercises) can be enormously beneficial in regulating Kapha and Vata. Practicing Bhastrika and Anulom Vilom can improve respiratory and digestive functioning.

Ensure adequate rest and maintain a regular routine. Stress management through meditation or yoga nidra may also help. However, if symptoms persist, it would be wise to consult with a healthcare professional who can asses your condition closely. Remember, consistency is key to reaping benefits from these Ayurvedic practices.
