If constipation has been a persistent issue for eight years it’s essential to address it by considering your unique prakriti, dosha imbalances, and agni. Constipation is often related to vata dosha, so let’s delve into potential solutions. First, avoid relying solely on Ayurvedic tablets or herbs without evaluating dietary and lifestyle habits. Incorporating certain practices can enhance digestion and alleviate constipation over time.

Firstly, consuming a diet that pacifies vata, which is warm, oily and easy to digest, can help. Cooked vegetables, stews, and soups can be beneficial. Including natural laxatives such as soaked raisins, figs, or prunes in your daily regimen might offer relief. You can soak 2-3 figs overnight, consume them in the morning. Drinking warm water or herbal teas like ginger or fennel after meals may support agni.

Abhyanga, or daily self-massage with warm sesame oil, can balance vata and improve bowel movements. Focus on circular motions around the abdomen. Gentle yoga asanas such as Pavanmuktasana (Wind-Relieving Pose) and Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose) also promote peristalsis and can be practiced daily, early in the day for better results. Staying hydrated through the day is crucial, aim for around 2-3 liters of water.

Consider Ayurvedic formulations like Triphala Churna, which you can take before bed. Mix 1 teaspoon with warm water; however, please consult with a qualified Ayurvedic doctor as prolonged use should be monitored. Investigating other factors like stress levels and eating habits is important. Mindful eating - eating without distractions - can significantly influence digestion.

Unresolved or severe constipation should not be overlooked. If these holistic approaches don’t ease symptoms, or if you experience severe symptoms like bleeding, it’s imperative to consult a healthcare provider to explore underlying conditions. Taking these steps can gradually support your body, promoting digestion and relieving long-term constipation effectively over time
